I plan on getting one in the very near future (new 9530 at Verizon)

I see a lot of people have BB"s and also a cell phone. Why?

I know of nobody that does that. International travel and saving cost might be one plausible reason to do so, especially on the CDMA carriers.

A lot of times the BB is a work issued phone and the other cell is personal.

I just have my Curve, and I use it as a phone. I think it makes a great phone, along with all that other nifty stuff that it does.

I dont use my bb as a phone!
I have the basic airtime plan(300 min) with unlimited data.
Every month theres no minutes used.
People reach me at my office or home landline.
However, I do average 300-600mb of data each month.
Yes, I do tether and I'm online with bb alot.

Yes - I use it for everything.

I usually use the phone capacity when I bluetooth it with my Garmin Zumo 550. I do the same thing on my motorcycle.

I have a work-issued BB that only has data, no phone, so I use my personal cell phone for my business calls (reimbursed work related expense, of course!). So yes, I used to carry a BB and a cell phone.

This past December I replaced my personal cell phone with my own BB, so now I have to carry 2 BBs...and it makes me feel so superior to most other people

I know several of my co-workers carry both their work BB and personal cell, but it's usually to keep the work and personal emails and phone calls separate from one another.

As Troy stated above, a lot of times I see people carrying company issued BlackBerry devices and their personal cell phone. I would not see why anyone else would carry around 2 devices and have to worry about maintaining 2 and keeping them both charged, etc.

Jwaack has the idea, if you're going to do that, make it 2 BB's

My blackberry does it all. It is a phone, web browser, used for SMS, Email, BBM, and everything you could possibly think of. I could not find a valid reason to have to carry a BB and a cell phone.

No phone service for any of the over 300 blackberrys I support. The law firm I consult at doesn't pay for cell phone service.

I use one BB for everything. I am on my company's BES and we use the default policy with all logging turned off (I know this because I am good friends with the BB Admin). My company does not pay for our devices but we do receive a monthly allowance for the service so that is only fair that they don't limit personal use of the BB's.
