Well I am very new to the Blackberry technology and have enjoyed mine for the short time I have had it. I do have to say that being able to use it as an internet source will be very helpful and with all of the links from here It works great and have no problems yet. Speed good and using it right know.

Seems in my travels around the boards that there was talk about the procedures for UK.

Are you with Vodafone?

I'd give your carrier a call and ask about the settings for UK Pearl modem use. I am not too sure, but if you are using XP the concepts are the same regardless of where you reside.

I do note that in Europe they do NOT have the same unlimited data plan as that U.S. T-Mo customers enjoy. Don't they bill you by usage over there?

We pay for things that you guys get free, and if it is something you and us pay for, we pay double. I have a 75Mb/month download limit for 10GBP so I suspect it will come out of that. It is enough for the 100+ emails a day I get.

I just spoke with O2 data support and they say the 8100 configuration settings should be available in 3-4 weeks for O2, Tmo and other networks. They are working on getting the best config settings for this model.

Previously, I was getting the 734 error. I noticed that in: +cgdcont=1,,"wap.voicestream.com" on a previous post "IP" was missing. It should be: +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"

that is only the connection speed that your modem claims is connected to your computer with. you need to use an online speedtest like speakeasy.com to find out what your real speed is. it should be about 20kBs down and 10kBs up

Ok, So I followed the instructions step by step and even called tmo but they can not figure out whats going on. So I thought you wonderful people could help me out. When I try and connect to the server I get this message PPP Link control was terminated. I followed the "Troubleshooting" steps and now luck. Any ideas? thanks!

Finally answered my own question above.

The initialisiation string if you're on the O2 network is:

+cgdcont=1,"IP","mobile.o2.co.uk"

Gra, I'm on UK O2 also, what did you put in the phone number box, *99# or something else?

Yes, I used *99#

On my previous phone I used *99#1 or even *99#2, but this was because I had several GPRS services. Using the *99# worked first time for me on the Blackberry, both tethered and via Bluetooth.
