Congratulations. I'm Surprised that if officially came with 4.6.0.162, wouldn't be surprised if the retail outlets upgraded them.

Out of curiosity, what is the Blackberry adoption rate in Pakistan? I know in India it is very popular with the business community.

It's same like India.
It is very much popular within business community and now with it's new handsets, it's getting popular day by day in regular cellphone users.
Pakistan business community is using Blackberry since 2005 much earlier than India. As they got it in 2006.

I'm also wishing that Mobilink should launch Storm and flip 8220 before other carriers.

haha both of them are just passing time coz here the sets comes from uk america and other countries they can't be activated on local services with any of the cell service provider all of them are using them like 3310 Nokia. so better is that they all use the NOKIA coz u all people know all of them are carrier locked but u can't unlock the service that is enterprise services can't be activeted by any company but now they are coming with local brand under service providers so u can say here is .05% of BB user here in Pakistan.

Naeem - if you are saying that folks use Blackberries like ordinary phones and not as smartphones with (Blackberry) data plans, that is not true. I do not know about Pakistan but at least in India, Blackberry service (both BES and BIS) is offered by Airtel, Vodafone Essar, Tata and even Reliance I think. Plus you can legally acquire Blackberries there and get them activated with the data plan (post paid only).

I think Mr. Naeem lives outside Pakistan.
In Pakistan, it's same like India, you can legally acquire Blackberry sets from three carriers Mobilink, Warid and ufone & get them activated with BB data plan either on BES or BIS.

Hi Everyone.
Asif is quite right. I am a business man running my own company and using Blackberry from past almost 3 years , and good thing is I have bold with me now , but I bought it from UK last month and using it easily on My Pak Number and very happy with performance then 8820. While talking about the penetration rate for BB in Pakistan, one should be very carefull who dont know about Pakistani Market, specially who lives abroad and pretend to be Pakistani. The BB Penetration Rate in Pakistan at the moment is more than 15% of the mobile users in Pakistan. If I am wrong with number do correct me, this is my personal analysis

Can you suggest a place in Pakistan, Lahore being precise, from where i can buy Blackberry Bold? Please suggest something apart from UFONE, since i dont have a UFONE connection and i doubt that they sell unlocked phones anyway.

I think your numbers are way, way off base. 15% BB penetration rate, are you kidding me? I live in the US but my parents live in India so I know something about the South Asian market. In India, there are 310 million mobile users as of Oct/08 (10 million users were added in Sep/08 alone!) but it is estimated that there are only 115,000 active BB users (analyst estimates since RIM does not break down users by country). 115,000 out of 310 million, you do the math, it doesn't come close to 15%. So take Pakistan - how many mobile users would there be - 20-25 million? Even if you take 20 million users, 15% of that works out to 3 million BB users. Kind of hard to believe, especially since RIM's own releases state that there are only "1.6 million Blackberry users worldwide"! Unless you are suggesting you have more data than RIM....

Pleased to know that Pakistan has at least 3 chances to get a BB 9000.
Here in Italy BB 9500 will be available in few days, but as far as I know, neither Bolds nor Storms have hit the stores yet.
And think we'll have to wait even more.
Nice success for a G9 country that still considers Pakistan a third world nation ...

well it is my first post...a big hello to everyone!! i couldnot understand above quoted post by Uptowngal...
well uptowngal! total mobile users in Pakistan are almost 90 million (exact figure: 89,563,660 copied from Pakistan Telecommication authority's website) which makes Pakistan one of the largest mobile phone user in the world. and tele density is 50% and growth rate in telecom sector is 80.7 p.a (2007) which is highest in the world.
Ur figure about total blackberry worldwide users is NOT correct becos total Blackberry users in the world are approximately 12 million (Dec, 2007 estimates) (not 1.6 million) i believe they are 16 million now.
Pakistan was the first country in south asia where Blackberry service was first introduced in 2005 (India: 2006) so from above fact and figures you can can easily guess that Pakistan has more than 3 million blackberry users...
if RIM doesnot provide web support to Pakistani users (as there is no country page for Pakistan on their website)...that can be a biased behavior frm them
