Doh, I guess that'd help, sorry about that. Anyway, I posted about it over on the .297 thread here. But to recap, I was receiving this message:

Quote:
Uncaught Exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException
Whenever I rebooted the phone (soft or with a battery pull, I didn't matter) and eventually found out it also occurred if I ever locked the device and let it sit for more than a few minutes. Plus, the longer I let it sit after a reboot or device lock, the more times the pop-up error would occur, requiring me to click through multiple "OK" messages - overnight, it would be 40 or 50 of them, very annoying.

After uninstalling what I thought was every single application that could be the culprit, I wiped the device and reinstalled the OS and the problem went away, only to recur after activating on our BES, but before installing any other applications. At that point (with .297) and after several days of trying things, I just gave up and went back to .282 (where I also had visual voicemail already working). I had just really liked .297 otherwise because it's memory footprint was much smaller, but the error message was just too annoying. One note, there were error messages in the device event log that showed the error occurring around the time of browser push activity, but I still couldn't find the problem.

So, when .301 came out, I gave it a shot to see if the problem went away, but it was still there after automatically reactivating on BES. However, I remember that our BES administrator had set up an "Emergency Contact List" for our team that gets pushed to our devices periodically and is cached and accessible via an icon. I then noticed that after a reboot, the icon for it wouldn't be there until I left the device unlocked for a period of time.

Long story short, it turns out to be some issue between "Content Protection" (a.k.a. device encryption) and browser push. After .297, if you have Content Protection turned on (we have it configured on our BES) and are also using Browser Push functionality, it fails and throws that error every time a push is attempted (don't recall the frequency, think it's every 15 minutes) whenever the device is in a locked state (following a reboot or after sitting idle for a period of time). We need to open a case with RIM about it and I'm not certain that it's all Browser Push or just what we're doing with our Emergency Contact List. But I verified the problem by terminating the net_rim_bb_browser_push process in the JVM processes using the engineering screens and the problem didn't recur following a device lock. Of course, it did come back after a device restart. So I went into Options --> Advanced Options --> Browser Push and just turned it off that way, and voila, the problem was gone.

Just loaded the .301.

Lets see if this one works better in Germany.

I had lots of Problems with the DM5 after Upgrading to the .297.

I never had problems before.

I've been using this for almost a day now... Seems to work pretty good! Memory seems pretty decent. Phone seems a little quicker. The battery is very good IMO! Nothing bad to say about it... Best OS so far for me!

There is no SMS/MMS threading in any BlackBerry OS currently released. It is rumored to be part of the 5.0 OS, but none of the various 5.x OSes have been released yet.

If you are going from .297 to .301, the VVM will in fact be downgraded.

From what I have seen, VVM versions for recent releases are as follows:
4.6.0.282 - VVM 1.0.0.75
4.6.0.292 - VVM 1.0.0.80
4.6.0.297 - VVM 1.0.0.88 (AT&T - pulled)
4.6.0.301 - VVM 1.0.0.81

VVM versions for recent betas:
5.0.0.130 - VVM 2.0.0.70
5.0.0.190 - VVM 2.0.0.97

So far about 10MB more application memory, and better battery performance, but that is only on 5 hours.

Default Visual Voicemail

Can you still use the Visual Voicemail if you're on AT&T if you update to this OS? I'm thinking of using the Singtel version since I need an Asian Version.

Also, I saw that someone mentioned that Media, BBM, and Calendar didn't work...anyone had the problem (just want to check before I upgrade)

Default Latest OS: 9000 Bold 4.6.0.513/4.6.0.301 (Multilanguage)

Downloaded and installed this one, Love this one over .297! I have been lucky have had NO problems with this one.. I did notice one thing when I installed from apploader when I was deleting the vendor that all the dates were actually 2009, not 2008 on the AT&T .297 thought new release meant new not a year old....

Are you saying that every time you open the call log there is nothing there? Or are you saying that you lost your existing call log when you did the upgrade?

I have not heard of the first scenario ... and that would be a problem.

The second issue it true... that's how it works.

let me explain, I have the call log, but before the upgrade, with the call log open and being positioned on any call, you pressed menu, and one of the options was view history, so you could see all the calls related to thet niumber, well that options is not available anymore

For people who'd like the East Asian variant of this release, SingTel has made this available for its customers here:

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...3314DF2B3CB9CE

Because of my status on the forum, I am still unable to post a proper link in replies. Therefore, for the above link, please add https:// www (less the space before the "www") at the front...

Mods may want to add that to the first post and respectively change the title of the thread to reflect the availability of both EastAsian and Multilanguage packs? Cheers!
