Question PDF Viewer and Word/ Excel Viewers

Please Login to Remove!

Do anybody here lost the PDF Viewer and Word/ Excel Viewers when upgrading to OS 4.6.0.282? I upgraded about one week ago and have no issues at all until today. I have just received an email with Word / PDFs files and can not open any. When I look for the apps it seems that they are not present on my BB. How can I restore these apps??? Thanks.

I have exactly the same battery autonomy in 282 and 266 (at least if there is a difference it is by 10-15mns or so)

Yep after using .282 for a week now, I have lost about 10/15 hours of capacity on my phone. Yes it is that bad for me. I'll probably just hold out until the next release though as it can't be too far ahead and I'm fortunately never too far away from a USB port

I'm not there yet, sorry. It turns out the downloadable 282 upgrade you referenced earlier cannot be easily installed to a BES-activated device (like you and I have). I think I have to nuke the device, then load the new OS, then re-activate it on the BES. Hopefully I'll get this figured out before it's a moot point [].

Thats correct BES devices have to be reactivated with the BES server after you do an OS upgrade. So you will have the company you work network Admin to send you another activation password so you can resync your device. However if the device belongs to the company and not you personally I would recommend you don't try to upgrade the OS as it could result your job loss.

my friend added this clarification:

It turns out that I was wrong about the BES-related limitation, and that reactivation (or my job!) is not an issue. The real issue is installing the OS upgrade. Has anyone been able to install the new Bold OS as downloaded from CSL Ltd onto an AT&T Bold without first debranding the AT&T Bold?

you can load ANY carrier OS
you don't have to debrand to do it.

I am on BES and I have done a number of OS upgrades and had no problem reactivating without IT intervention so long as I am conected to my office network computer and use desktop manager rather than the loader.exe file. The only time I had to have a new activation password is when I used the loader.exe file.
However, our office is fairly small and we have very few, if any, restrictions on how the BES is implimented. At a minimum, I would suggest that anyone on a BES should make sure that your IT person is aware that you will be upgrading the OS (it may violate your firm's computer/IT policy) and that that person be around in case a new activation password is needed at the end of the process.

Sometimes the iPhone will show 3G but it really does not have 3G connectivity. So that is nothing you can use a guide to tell whether 3G is working or not.

I have the same problem with my Bold running .282 Voda UK. It will show 3G full service but when I try to send email I get a "red" X, and can't make calls. This just started. No way to actually tell is their is service or not. Rats

I dont see the app world icon. Although when loading the OS it showed Blackberry App world as an option to check. Wheres is it located without having to re-download OTA?

a much smarter (than me) friend helped me upgrade my bold yesterday from 247 to 282. he also simultaneously took care of the VVM vs. traditional voice mail notification problem that had started for me after i upgraded from an earlier OS to 247

New Voicemail Icon Missing! - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

i've had less than a day to watch 282, but so far (1) i love the new field allowing switch fronm 3g2g to 2g only, (2) the handheld looks and feels sharper and quicker (though i may be imagining this), and (3) battery life seems no worse (and it might be better) with 282 than with 247 (although i will need to watch longer to form a real opinion).

thanks for the thoughts and encouragements earlier!

Did you remember to remove .221 from computer?
What I did was uninstall .167 from computer and then installed .282. I was rushing the upgrade when I went to .282 and forgot the simple process until someone reminded me of it.
Maybe you can keep both on the same PC, I'm not an expert, but I find it works better for me with only one Blackberry OS for the Bold on computer at a time. Just my two cents

Hi All,

Thanks for getting back to me, i didnt remove anything before, but this explains a few things, where do i remove from?

Usually it downloads to download area then i run it to install, then i remove the vendor, then i connect the bold, and it went through the normal upgrade process...

Any help.
