Default 8330 problems after 4.5.0.77

Please Login to Remove!

I updated my 8330 a couple weeks ago to the new software 4.5.0.77.
Starting maybe a week after I did that, my phone has been noticeably slower.

Examples:
  • When people try to call me, it will ring, but not register on the screen that someone is calling.
  • Occasionally when I try to answer, (hitting green phone button) it will pause ringing, but then resume a couple seconds later.
  • Sending text messages takes up to five minutes. And after doing so, it takes a couple more minutes to go back to the text messages inbox.
  • Opening text messages takes a minute or so.
Only thing I've tried is pulling the battery, but it had no effect.

Any suggestions?

i've done a battery pull as well since my last post, and now i just noticed that my file free is 23763351, SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than what i posted last night. i remember counting and re-counting that number i posted last night, so i'm puzzled. i must have just miscounted the number of digits, because there's no other explanation for that. anyway.....

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe the "file free" is just what is free on the device memory. in the options menu, there's another area that says "media card," so i'm assuming that menu would should you what you have free on your memory card. a full media card should not affect the speed of your device (that's what it's there for), at least not to the significance that you were reporting anyway.

so what's the update on your slowness that you originally reported? any improvement there? you could try erasing your call logs to free up some space if you haven't already. you can do this with your BB plugged into your PC through desktop manager. if you're still not seeing any improvement, perhaps you should try wiping the device and re-loading the OS?

Doing this sped mine up quite a bit

Disable the event log: Hold down Alt and type L G L G, press menu and go to options, scroll down to alarm and press menu again and select "Hide all types" then save.

No change. I haven't erased call logs, but I've erased cookies and messages.

I see. I do have Verizon, will I still be able to update to .131 OS? I was under the impression Verizon controls what OS I can run...

You can run any OS from/for any carrier that is for the same model as your phone. All that needs to be done is to delete the Vendor.xml file as per the instructions in several upgrade threads in this forum.
