Default Unknown Message Indicator - White Envelope

Please Login to Remove!

BB 8330 Curve
In addition to other symbols, main screen has one I can't figure out. It's not described in the BBFAQ, not in the documentation and I can't find a reference to it in this forum.

It is a message indicator of some kind. It is an unopened envelope, similar to the yellow unopened e-mail indicator. This additional indicator is white with a red spot on its bottom left corner. The red spot may be a red "@" symbol. Adjacent to the envelope, on the left, is a number (In my case, it's currently "3").

<<<What is this and how do I address it?>>>

Also, it appears that BB does not publish information that lists all the symbols that appear each particular device. This appears to be bad form.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

im guessing some sort of email. maybe something through your BES if you have one.

on the home screen, hit menu, and unhide all your icons. go through all the folders and icons and see if it is anything in any message list or folder

It's not BES mail. That's always a yellow envelope icon. To the OP: Can you post a screenshot? You can use JL_Cmder in my signature.

Thanks for the responses, folks.

<< NickfromIL- What theme are you using? >>
Not clear on the "theme" thing. It might be "Verizon" (other non-selected options include "BB Dimension Icon," BB Dimension L," etc.) Perhaps the screenshot will give a clue.

Whoa, that's cool! Hope this helps.

I'm not sure you can see this without blowing it up, but the white envelope has a red "@" in the corner, which leads me to believe it's an incoming e-mail sent to the handset's direct e-mail address.

Under Messages, hit the menu key, select View Folder and check out those several candidates individually.

MBW, you got it.

3 "UNHEARD" messages in my SMS Inbox. Four unheard messages in my Voice Mail had been deleted days ago with one call to Voice Mail, but only the one entry I used to call Voice Mail indicated any change on the handheld. Don't know why.

Thanks for helping to resolve that mystery!
