Default Battery Life

I have a BB 7520. When I charge the Battery in the BB, the battery last about 16 hours (6am-10pm). I bought a external charger and now that battery is lasting through two days. Has anyone else notice this?

Are you using Windows XP ???? with the USB cable check power management and if Windows is turning off the device to save power then that is most likely why.

I have a 7510 with the extended battery and I get about three days. It's been noted in these forums that Nextel/Telus aka IDeN devices tend to be battery depletors since they are always on because of the Direct Connect.
Have you "conditioned" your battery?
There is a FAQ that explains that you need to discharge and recharge fully a few times to train the battery.

Can you point me to that FAQ please? I spoke to my Blackberry retailer. One of the sales guys said it is bad to run the battery down completely and I should top up regularly, the other said let it run down and charge it up again. I got mixed advice from the shop. Solid advice would be welcome.

Thanks

I have a NEW 7250 (week old) and the battery lasts at most 6 hours: mostly receiving e-mail and ~10 min of talking. Then it goes "red" and shuts down. I can let it charge with the wall charger for 12 hours and it is good to go....but only ~6 hours. Yuk.

My old 7750 would go for a 2+ days with light usage w/o a re-charge.

I have called Verizon, been to the Mall store and they do not have batteries...can't belive it. They gave me the number to RIM but that was a dead end in automated service hell.

Obviously this is a bad battery...right?? The guy at the store suggested we call it a defective unit and send it in for warranty. Since it a week old, I would rather just get a battery.

Found some on e-bay for ~$20 delivered. Any downside of non - OEM batteries?

Smartphonedepot has Nextel-sized extended battery kits for the 7250 for about $45

You could probably run then on a 72xx series GSM phone but the only back piece that they sell seems to be colored for the 7250

The extended battery has 77% more capacity than the standard battery. It will get you throught a whole day of heavy use on your 7520.

rcg: Are cosmos black and steel blue the only colors available for 72xx phones?

I'm guessing steel blue is the color of the T-Mobile 7290s?

Do you have any pictures of a 72xx phone with the extended cover installed? I'm curious how it looks.

Take a look here... I used a cosmos door on the blue (tmo) BB to help illustrate the difference.

Answer to my question: The non-OEM battery from E-Bay is OK. Same life as with my prior BB. Threw the OEM (week old) battery in the trash last night.

Warning to those who buy non-OEM batteries. You use them at your own risk and there are many companies producing defective product that could toast your BlackBerry. They come to market quickly and at a very low cost, but they do not have to adhere to the very stringent quality standards as the OEM batteries. There are horror stories out there, but if you are willing to risk it then it is your choice. I hope it works out, but I for one would NEVER use an non-OEM battery in my device. Why do you think so many OEM manufacturers of batteries are working hard to make them counterfeit proof? If your berry is new, you have also voided any warranty you may have had.
