Default Cannot delete messages

Please Login to Remove!

- Cingular 7290, using corporate BES and Cingular BWC
- 2.5 months of proper functionality
- I have ~20 messages on that BB that will not delete.
I can delete new messages as they come in but there
are 20 that I cannot delete. Tried del key, delete prior,
mark unread, move between folders, etc
- These messages came through the corporate BES
- Tried powering down/up the unit and tried alt/cap/del reboot

Anyone have a solution?

Is it possible that there's some kind of policy on the BES that disallows deleting messages? Maybe they just turned on that setting? There's a BES administrator setting, that prevents messages from being deleted.

This is probably because of a company requirement to archive messages. The best thing to do is to move them to an archival folder.

If the company is a bit confused how to do this, you may wish to ask me or bfrye to move this post to the BES Admin forum -- which may be the best place for this message.

No, it is a 'one time bug' type thing.

I could delete emails for 2.5 months, I have deleted
100 emails today just fine. Also other BB users at
work are not having this problem.

It seems like these 20 'got lost' in the OS and
I cannot kill them.

Have you checked your Saved Messages icon in the Main Screen?

If not, then this could be a bug. Might be easier to get this covered by the "RIM Software" forum or "BES Admin Corner" forum. You might wish to post there and ask -- (Or I can move this thread for you)

They were not saved when I had the problem.

I saved one and tried to delete it. Same result, it would not die.

Move this thread over if you do not mind.

We had this as well a few times.
The answer from a german forum was "no way".
Kill and resync.
I found no other way.
It did not happen again since we use 4.0

Have you ttried backing up the handheld, then restoring over it. That's what I had to do once to get rid of a few messages. I think the final resolution was to update the device itself.

I have run into the same problem. There are a number of messages that I cannot delete. Xarden, were you able to find a solution?
