Default Clarification?

Hey sorry for the noob question, but i cant seem to find a clear answer to my question. Im looking at buying Garmin gps software for my bold, but i do not have a data plan. Im wondering if it uses the data connection even though i have all the maps stored on the external card? Im not looking to do turn by turn, just the gps for current location and drawing a line to a destination entered by my (ie. street address). Is this possible? Also, I think the garmin software has POI already entered, and i can assume you can enter your own before leaving home or something?

Wirelessly posted (7250)

I do believe it uses data.

However, there is a trial period. Try it out with data turned off perhaps?

I don't think that the garmin has the data/maps on an SD card but you "download" the DATA as needed to plot the route and show a map of your area and route. I think an older Garmin version did have data on an SD card.

Check the All Known GPS Apps thread. It lists 2 options for locally stored maps (and Garmin isn't one of them). That's currently all there is.
