Default Syncing 8100 to MacBook (with PocketMac)

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Pearl 8100 that I am trying to sync to my MacBook using PocketMac. When I connect the USB cable I get a message on the 8100 that there is not enough power supplied by the port to sync (battery fully charged).

Do I have to use a powered USB hub to sync or do they make a cable that will power the phone and sync through the USB port on the phone.

I had the same issue, and I Saw another thread on this that recommended you charge it fully using the wall charger initially and THEN you are able to do so without getting the power message.

I tried that and I no longer recieve the message.

Was this a new phone?

Thanks for your post. I have had the phone for a few weeks. IT has been through several charging cycles. The battery is 100% charged, but I am still getting the message. Any other ideas?

I know it makes no sense, but I get this message on 2 out of 3 USB ports I have on my MacBook. Once figured it out, I use port where laptop is recognizing my blackberry for syncing and it works more or less ok. Charging fully suggestion does come from PocketMac tech support. They also recommended to switch BB off, connect it to Mac, turn it off while connected and sync after that. I tried, but it did not make it any better

Hope this helps ! George

I get that message sometimes but just try again and it works. It's not a perfect fit but I can get it to work for me. Good luck.

I also had this issue.

The problem was the USB cable I was using could not carry a charge to the Pearl.

Once I switched over to the USB cable that came with my Pearl there was no problem.

This is coming out soon:
http://markspace.com/missingsync_blackberry.php

I have no correlation with this outfit, I just feel your frustrations with PocketMac and hope this is a better solution.

I use a similar method:

1. Charge phone with wall charger
2. Reboot phone... switch on and off with the red hang up button
3. Open pocket mac
4. Connect phone to usb and when mass storage notice comes on say "yes"
5. Eject the BB USB disc from the desktop (drag it to trash)
6. Click SYNC (not the BB icon... just the sync icon).
7. Quit pocketmac

It works like a treat for me every time.

I read most of this from some other poster but cannot remember who it was.

The only problem I have is exceptions to repeat calendar events dont pass over to my BB...

My pearl rocks... replaced my ipod, 3g phone and reg size BB for one thing that doesn't look obtrusive in my shirt pocket...

I managed to get my Pearl to sync with my MBP using the supplied USB cable. I first tried with another USB cable and it had the power issue warning and wouldn't sync.

One problem though that I'm facing is I get double contacts when I sync my address book the second time round. Its set to two-way sync so it should be good but its otherwise.

Any suggestions or anyone facing this problem?
