Default Storm wont hold EDGE connection

Please Login to Remove!

So I just got the Storm, and I followed all of the directions.

I can't get it to hold an EDGE connection. I have tried three different software versions. I installed the service books, I removed and re-added the browser cod file. I changed the APN... I did everything.

Does anyone know which OS works best? Is there something else I should do?

Thanks for the help...

ok....need more information on what it is you have done....namely:

what phone model do you have (9500 or 9530) ?
what OS version have you loaded (app/platform) ?
did you download and install the correct service books in the method outlined here @ bbf or cb ?

So I got it to hold EDGE on .75 but this version is still really laggy. Is there a newer version that works better?

I have a 9530 BTW. Thanks for the help.

.76 for me was perfect for EDGE. it aquired it quickly after boot, then never toggled.

but for me, after .122 goes thru it's pms-ing in the first hour, EDGE appears and sticks.....so far after 3 reboots, i've experienced this and it doesn't change unless i turn off the connection or reset the phone....

Yeah, I probably would have gotten the same results if I had waited an hour. This is disappointing news. I think I am going to try every OS I can find. Has angone else found a good OS?

I use the radio file from .90 and EDGE stays right on for me. When I use to use the .122 file, it took a while to find EDGE, but when I would use 3rd party apps like mini Opera and AmazeGPS, it would drop EDGE and wont find it for an hour or so. Even with multiple battery pulls. Everthing is working fine for me now with the .90 radio file. I am using the 9530 on T-mobile.

Thanks for the info, 2 questions:

1. How do I get the radio file out?
2. Which OS do you have for all of the other parts?

if you go over to crackberry or blackberryos, search for a util called "swap-a-radio", it's an easy way to pick the radio file you want to load....

personally, the only really good radio i saw so far other than .76 is .90....i tried the others and they had the same problem as the one in .122....

I have been experimenting with a workaround on .132 without changing any radio files. It seems that if you disable the APN settings under the TCP/IP options you in essence force the device to use BIS only. I have had constant EDGE once it is acquired out of a reboot.

Note: I have no external apps and it has been reported that certain external apps will not work properly with these settings.

btw: I saw GPRS on the display today coming out of a voicemail call. Went right to EDGE after.

.109 works, but .90 seems to be the standard for EDGE holding with an APN. i've been fighting this for about 2 wks now and i've settled on OOAK's 7.99c hybrid.

http://www.theiexplorers.com/OneOfaK...530v7.99cf.exe

It's very fast, holds EDGE well, and has all the included stuff. There's a shrunk version if you dont want all the extra crap.
