Post CDN BES, US Phones

Please Login to Remove!

All,

Good morning/Afternoon. Our company has recently setup a BES and I'm having a slight issue. The BES is located in our datacentre in Canada, our Canadian employees are able to connect too it just fine, however I am unable to activate a US phone on our BES server. So a few questions:

1) Do we need to deploy a BES in the US for our US people?
2) Can you send PIN to PIN messages from a CDN BB to a US BB?

I've had the user verify with his carrier that BES is enabled on his phone, however I am unable to send PIN messages to him (from Canada). Any advise you can give me would be appreciated

Appologies if this has already been covered, I attempted a search but wasn't very thorough.

Thanks in Advance

Terry

A BB can PIN any BB in the world. If the user can't send or receive a PIN message then he is not provisioned correctly from their carrier.

Another thing to consider: the ping time from BES to Exchange mus tnot exceed 35MS. Once you get higher the MAPI connection is not stable and you will have varied issues. Typically you want a BES local to every Exchange server if the ping times are over 35MS.

If you can't do that, the US BB is either broken or doesn't have the correct data plan.

Update,

I am able to do PIN - PIN messaging (i typed in the wrong PIN).

As for latency, geographically the user in question is closer to BES than I am (i'm in Vancovuer, BES is in Toronto, User is in Atlanta). Their latency from GroupWise to BES is also better than mine. To be sure, I'm going to find another US user with a BB and test with his account as well.

Thanks for the Info
