How is a vanity PIN any different than a vanity phone number?
I think 509 is getting a rough ride here because of his English, not his actual request.

There is no such thing as a vanity PIN, that's the difference. You're stuck with the PIN that's on the device.

Exactly. You cannot specially request a PIN number from RIM like you could a phone number from your Telco.

Unless you can manage to find your "perfect" PIN and negotiate a purchase of the device... which is the whole point of this thread... it's the proverbial needle in the haystack to even find it. And if you're on a GSM network and the "perfect" PIN is on a CDMA or iDEN device, you're screwed... or if it's on an out-dated phone, you can live in the past...
Or you could do what 99.9999999999999999999999% of the people do and buy your device based on your provider's coverage and the device features... and take the PIN you are issued.
So this whole thread really is a waste of bandwidth... but I'm doing my part to keep it #1 thread of all time...

I have a nice PIN, dare I say even thoughtful. If I'm having a bad day my pin will que up some funny vids thru my youtube app. It sends flowers to my GF if we fight using the 1-800 flowers app. It keeps my money safe using my mobile banking app. It tracks traffic and help me get to work on time. Ahhh but this PIN isn't for sale! How cloud I part with such a wonderful PIN?

Duh, no kidding. And before there were vanity phone numbers, there weren't vanity phone numbers either.
But maybe, just maybe, in the possible universe, there's a way for RIM to come up with vanity PINs.
"Nope, nope, not possible. PINs are attached to devices, that's the way it's always been done and any other suggestion is just plain foolish. Now let's get back to all that constructive use of bandwidth around here."

No he's getting the "rough ride" because of his persistence in not understanding that a vanity PIN is not possible.

I think my PIN suffers from dissociative identity disorder at times.

Did it ask you if the device made it look fat?

Yeah all that, and my PIN saw the comment I made about the storm. Knowing I can't take my PIN with me, I have been getting some rather petty comments this am.
