Default Rename BES (not Windows server)

Please Login to Remove!

Today I changed the Windows server name to be BES1 to follow our new naming scheme.

Previously Windows and BES were both named: company-bes
I renamed the Windows server and rebooted and that is fine, but BlackBerry manager says company-bes still (which I expected).

How do I go about renaming the actually BES? Do I need to install on top of itself and change the name during install? I attempted to do that but I cannot install as it says database upgrade failed (using 4.0 SP3 on Exchange, with both hot fix 1 and 2).

I tried using both the upgrade of 4.0 sp3 and the full version install of 4.0 that includes sp3.

Is there another way that I can rename the BES?

all of that information is stored in the database, so i would imagine it would have to do with changing some things there. i'd suggest contacting RIM (or maybe they have an article). something is telling me that there are technical issues with changing the name, but it may be just one of those feelings - likely along the lines of policy, etc.

probably best just to leave it as is, to be honest.

Just finished speaking with RIM.

The only way to do this would be to move all the users to another server and rebuild it with the new name. (Only being probably the best way according to RIM). This is easy enough since we do not have many users and have multiple servers to move them.

If you have handhelds with BlackBerryOS 4 and you use the same database for your new server, your users don't notice anything. It is easy to move the users. They get a new Service Book wireless.
