Default WAV files

Please Login to Remove!

My office emails me my voice mails as an .wav attachment. Although, some BB models will play .wav files BB does not seem to permit the download and thus playing of these files on my BB device. I am doing something incorrect or I am accurate in my understand? If I am accurate does anyone know of any plans to allow for .wav files to be downloadable and playable on any BB devices?

I know the 8700 can play wav files, but I think you will need to upgrade to the latest OS 4.2xx to get the function to download from an email and listen. Someone will corrrect me if I am wrong, i just can't remember right now, and I know that question has been asked here a few times.

Search "wav voicemail" under the 8700 section only.

All blackberry devices with a Qualcomm chip don't play .wav files.

Therefore, 7130e, 8703e, 8707, 8830, etc

They can play .mp3 files, but not .wav files.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

The 8830, with OS 4.2, requires the company BES be at version 4.1.2 or 4.1.3 to enable the Blackberry to play those types of .wav files.

We are in the same boat. I have a few people with 8800's from ATT and they can play the .wav files fine (BES is at 4.0.6). However, when I started rolling out the 8830's I found out the BES needs to be upgraded for those devices to play them.

We'll be upgrading next month.

ya you need device 4.2 software and BES 4.1.2 or 4.0.6, haven't tried with 8830 but what juwaack said makes sense.

I am currently using 8700 v4.1.0.194, BIS, AT&T.

Will this phone play a .wav file? If so, how do I upgrade my software? I must assume through the synch cable and my computer?

My emails do not have a .wav attachment although they are being sent with a .wav attachment. AT&T appears not to be sending the .wav attachment to the phone thus I am not able to download.

k, I found where and how to upgrade the software in the phone.

The big question is how to I get AT&T to deliver the .wav file attachment?
