Default Blackberry 8520 Calendar not synching

I have setup a blackberry 8520 using our Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES).

The blackberry setup completes without error as does the enterprise activation on the device.

Everything works ok on the Blackberry except for the calendar which does NOT synch across any changes to the outlook desktop. If a change(eg new entry) is made on the users outlook desktop it DOES get synched across to the Blackberry. If the calendar entry is then deleted on the blackberry it gets synched across to the desktop.

The problem is only in one direction eg from the Blackberry to the desktop.

So far I have removed the user from the BES and restarted the BES. Added the user back in to the BES. Wiped the handheld and run the enterprise activation but the problem still exists.

This seems to be an isolated problem as we have approximately 20 Blackberry users using BES and all dont have any issues.

Any help would be appreciated as I need to resolve this problem.

First of all let me know which Microsoft Exchange Server you are using. i have introdued some tips

Calendar synchronization only occurs from the Microsoft® Outlook® calendar to the calendar on the BlackBerry smartphone but any calendar operations performed on the BlackBerry smartphone do not synchronize to the Microsoft Outlook calendar.

Verify that all BlackBerry Enterprise Server services are running under the appropriate BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account.


(1) Several BlackBerry Enterprise Server services run under the Local System account (for example, the BlackBerry Attachment Service or the BlackBerry Mobile Data System Services - Apache Tomcatxxx8482; Service).

(2)Confirm the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account has the appropriate permissions

(3)Verify the Collaboration Data Object (CDO) is present and supported with the Microsoft Exchange environment

(4)Confirm the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account is not a Domain Administrator

Thanks for responding.
We are using Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise.
All other 19 Blackberry users have no issues with there Blackberries. Its only this specific user that has the issue. I feel your checks (1 to 4) would be more relevant if the issue affected ALL Blackberry users we have, which it doesn't.
For your information I have even setup another user on the same Blackberry device and functionality is perfect. All Blackberry Enterprise Server services are running ok.
Could there be a problem within the specific user's Active Directory account ?

We had a couple of users who were having calendar sync issues. Although we only have Exchange 2003 Standard.

We updated the cdo.dll & mapi32.dll and that solved the problem for us.

Hello,

Regarding your particular problem did you have the problem with ALL your Blackberry users or only a few?

After you updated the dll files were there any problems for the other Blackberry users ?

We would be a bit reluctant to update any dll files given that all the other Blackberry users (19 of them) don't have this problem.

We had the problem with 4 of 50.

After the update, the 4 worked correctly and the others still had no problem.

I understand the hesitation. It took me about a week to decide to go ahead.

Perhaps one of the more experienced BES Admins on this site can let you know if there is a downside.

you could have a corrupt item, have you moved the user to a new storage group?
