Did you see the news about the town hall meeting how that lady was crying saying she needed help for a new kitchen and a car. How can anybody rely on the government so much that they expect the government to jump in when it's these own peoples faults. They are treating Obama like he was Christ on how they expect him to do all this miracle stuff. I knew it was bad but not that bad as when that lady said cause I know she isn't the only one. People expect the government to pay there mortgage and gas.

I think desperate people would ask these things of any politician they were around. I think these pleas will only get worse as more people lose their jobs, houses and insurance.

I heard yesterday that she was offered a house to live in...

My only Q is was she a victim of the current economic state or a life long recipient of gov assistance...

apparently a Florida State Representative offered to let her live in one of his homes. some people say it was given to them and many others saying its just a place for them to stay.

she told people that she was on disability for cancer and her son had lost his job in computer programming. they both said that they are searching for jobs but cannot find one. they have been living out of their car for some time. also could not vote because they lack a permanent address. also that she applied for public housing but there is a two year waiting time and its growing longer all the time.

either way its a rare case that someone lays it out like that at a press conference or town hall. she likely won't be the last person to make a speech like this one.

So... she didn't ask for a new kitchen and car?

Someone else will. For the money the spendulus bill we could all get a new kitchen and car. The problem is that none of Obama's cronies and 40 years worth of defeated liberal social spending won't do squat the economy.

I guess some of those hoping the salvation of his plan would be the kool-aid the economy needed noticed that the stock market did not give a flip for it. Obama had absolutely no honeymoon in Congress, and his response to that was that the American people still love him. And that will be short-lived as well. They are expecting jobs and hard cash, but are getting STD tests and greening education.

Give me a tax break and I'll put some money back into the economy.

wow, tough day JSanders?

YouTube - Obama and Henrietta Hughes in Florida

try listening to it, she said she needs a place to live - her own kitchen, her own bathroom referring to the need for a place to live.

well if you feel I'm getting screwed then shouldn't you be a part of that as well? does he only get to screw the people who approve of him?

I don't see how this story of a lady getting helped by a Florida politician is reflective of Obama screwing me?

Not sure how this turned against me when I'm posting pretty impartial stuff in this thread.

I'm not for freeloading, but as times get tougher more and more people will be looking for help.

Sorry. I'm getting screwed too.

It's not about you. It's about Obama.

Its about the fact that the poor lady who desperately needs help is getting nothing from her President who promised so much for the past 14 months. She needed a handout and the kind FL legislator is providing it. Good. She needs it.

But she'll still be without work and a means to support herself. And no amount of counting carbon in the air nor setting up a national database to track your and my medical records will help her one bit.

Will it? How?

Wirelessly posted

There are people who don't do anything and want handouts so they rely on the government to give them everything. Medicaid food stamps. Housing assistance. So with this pork bill is only providing more than they should

what about unemployment insurance too while your at listing all the government handouts. who needs federally funded roads and bridges, we don't need to spend on that either.
medicaid / medicare - drop that too, old people should have saved enough to pay for their own care or they can work till they die (if they can find a job).
Should we not give healthcare and pensions to the military either? lets just cut all federal programs that are seen as unnecessary spending by a portion of the country.
Public schools and universities, cut them as well - tax payers should pay for their own schools.

fine line between cutting what you deem as liberal social spending and good programs that help more than they hurt. and many of those good programs are what many would call socialist type programs - that evil word that people like to call me in here.

that being said there is pork in the stimulus bill even after some of it was removed. Tax cuts alone will not help, thats been tried and tried again and no big changes occur. Has to be a combination of spending and tax cuts in my opinion, and we have some glaring need for some spending in the roads & energy projects.

At least THAT ^^ would provide the jobs and feed mouths and put money direct where it is needed. More projects like that in the spendulus bill would help, and I would even favor that.

Yeah I agree, but the GOP chairman does not. He was on several shows saying that those government jobs are temporary and not good for the country.

Jobs = good, pork = bad.
