Default TMO VVM/Reload

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I am running a TMO 8900 OS v5.0.0.348. Prior to upgrading to OS5, I was running YouMail. However, after my OS5 upgrade, I noticed a VMM icon. Thinking it was YouMail, I clicked on it and it said my account was not provisioned for VMM, would you like to provision it now? I of course said sure and it has worked flawlessly ever since with NO issues.

Now.... I went from a 8900 to a MyTouch3G last week. They switched my BB service to regular Internet service but the phone doesnt get reception in my house/neighborhood, so I went back to using the BB w/UMA.

After everything was changed back to my original plan, I no longer have VMM. I have tried to switch my phone to the Bold and select it, I even had the TMO rep switch it for me, I've pulled the battery and the SIM multiple times to no avail.

How can I reload OS5 in hopes of it returning? I have tried several times to remove/uninstall VMM, but it's greyed out and says "BlackBerry Messenger" when I try to remove it.

Any ideas? I just want to remove or reinstall VMM and/or the OS5.

Thanks in advance.

Joe

double check that you ave set your phone back to 9700 and then resend the service books.

that *should* work... Else, check to make sure that you havent hidden the VVM icon on the home screen (i did this once....)

if that doesn't work, wiping the device and reloading the VVM app is a last resort.

to do this, use JL cmdr to reset / wipe the device. then use loader.exe to re load the latest OS for your device. i know that the current link for the 8900 software (stickied @ the top of this forum) has VVM in it.

let me know of you need more help / feel free to BBM me.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I have the icon and VVM opens up, but no messages are being downloaded/displayed.

Do you mean the service books from "Manage Internet Email" or are there other service books?

I'm using Desktop Manager, can I wipe and reload OS5 through Desktop Manager?

Thanks!

Joe

have the service books sent through your carrier's BIS page. for us, it is my.t-mobile.com and then the blackberry email section.

that wont work unless you have your phone set up as a 9700 (its a tmobile thing; they only support VVM on the 9700)

that should work... else, you will need to go an set up your voicemail PIN and the other information that the VVM app asks you for on your first run.

I had to work with TMO's Blackberry support (not the RIM level) to get this working on one of my Blackberries. They had to make tweaks to the provisioning on the TMO-US system -- although they weren't quite sure themselves what move got it working.

They had tried that early in the process. Maybe they just took awhile to arrive.

no, sending the service books should take less than a min. If they had to tweak your provisioning, then the problem was that the service books were not 'giving you permission' to have VVM.

you are supposed to be able to fix this by temporarily switching your device to 9700 and then enabling the VVM service... then resending your properly provisioned service books.

occasionally, this wont work (for w/e reason) and a BB Tech will have to do it for you.

oh well, its great to hear you got your problems solved.

They solved it, but they didn't understand how or why.... but it works.

Yes, I'd switched the phone type in my.t-mobile.com to 9700 and had enabled the VVM feature there. Then I called into TMO for help when it didn't work.
