Where in the constitution does it say we don't have the right to shoot a pirate where he stands. Especially when caught in international waters while coming on board an american ship as a pirate.

Why do we need to shoot him on site? He was willingly boarding the ship. Do we just look at him and say sorry and then mow him down? No way can I agree with that course of action. The others got what they deserved by aiming an AK at the Captain.

Because that's how we do things in the United States of America. We try them first. If he gets the death penalty, then he will be fried.

Dawg, I will agree that in one sense it is a waste of money. The evidence is considerable.

In another sense, however, a fair trial with the evidence presented and justice imparted affirms who we are as a nation -- and IMHO that is more important than the relatively small amount of money that would be saved. We need to proudly fly that banner to the world and proudly proclaim that we are a nation that lives by the rule of law.

Any president in office would naturally take part of the credit. It was a presidential order to take action should it be possible. Wouldn't George Bush take credit were he still president? I think so.

Very true.

No one should be permitted to take credit for doing the immovably self-evident.
