Default Branded Plate Beneath Keyboard Removal

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know how the small plate at the bottom of the Bold beneath the keyboard (that usually has the carrier branding printed on it) is fixed on? I seem to recall reading its just stuck on and can be taken off without removing the bezzle etc. Is this the case?

yeah, there are a few clips and adhesive... it will come off easily if you slowly pull it up, starting in a corner (ie the corner beside ALT)

Yep it's that simple. I did it last week and it's just some double sided tape under there keeping it stuck down. The clips don't seem to do much apart from keep it in position.

Find something slim and firm enough and start at the bottom and just pry it up.

Actually on second thoughts starting with one side would be easier as mentioned earlier

Why would you want to do this? Seems like it's taking the idea of unbranding a little too far.

Its not because of the branding. I am considering getting a backplate (battery cover) plus the small plate at the front made in aluminium.

Wirelessly posted

Kewl, I hope you'll post some pics when its done. Plus some info on who is making the parts for you; there are several folks that might be interested in a similar mod and would be interested in their contact info.

Does anyone know if the unbranded unit from cnn.cn comes with the double sided adhesive tape or will I need to purchase it separately?
