Angry Bold - Call Failed - Who else?!?!?

Please Login to Remove!

OK, AT&T and the BB Bold is driving me nuts! I get call failed alll the time now even when I have excellent strength... I know others are having this issue, but I wanted to start a poll.

It doesn't seem like anyone has figured out a way to cure the problem either.

If you have call failed, please post the city.

It happens to me if I try to make a call right after I send an e-mail or text. But not all the time. What is your OS version?

Denver, CO

I've had a few calls fail while driving to work (Beekman, NY to Bethel, CT), but I'd imagine that there's got to be a weak coverage area somewhere along that route. It's pretty hilly until I hit the highway. I very rarely have that happen though.

BBSwany posed a good question. Sometimes these problems can be fixed with an OS upgrade, if you're still using an older version that is.

I get that happening around random area's. Hoping that .245 fixes the issue. .224 didn't have it but then I went to .237 for the battery life. I'll know more as the week goes on.

.167 is the original AT&T OS. You should definitely think about upgrading. .247 is the latest OS in the wild right now. It's been pretty stable. You might want to check out the BlackBerryNews.com Feed and Beta You Than Me sections and juice that puppy up!

I got Call Failed issues while inside the Javitz Center in NYC, but otherwise I've been great. Live in upstate NY. I have one spot of my house that loses signal from every carrier, so I don't really count that. Haven't figured out that issue yet.

The point is AT&T customers cannot set it to 2G only.
Which is why most of them have dropped calls.

Try this:

Go to Options and go to SIM Card. And edit your phone number. By default, there is a "1" before your actual number.

Just remove the "1" and save. See if you have anymore problems.

I get this pretty frequently in NYC as well in NJ where I live. Happens randomly, at random times. Sometimes I can't make a call until I pull the battery or restart the phone. I called at&t up and spoke to two nice ladies, one in CS and the other in the warranty dept, and the both said that that shouldn't be happening, and the agreed to replace my phone. It should be here tomorrow.

currently on .241 in NY metro area

Do you have any information as to why you think this will help?

I'm on Rogers and can change between 2g & 3g, but I've never done it. I only had a ton of dropped calls with a particular version of the 4.6 OS. I haven't had a single dropped call since I upgraded to 4.6.0.244.
