Bold Rogers Network Connectivity Problem
Please Login to Remove!
Folks I've been getting a full network disconnect suddenly (upper right corner shows tower with full signal strength however not connected to any network)
Every 2 minutes, it suddenly shows "Searching for Network" for about 1 second then disappears and nothing is connected.
Tried 10 resets (including taking out the battery few times and waiting for long) no luck.
One trick worked, Turned Radio Off, turned off the phone, turned back the phone then Turned Radio On. Network connected and everything worked perfect. I wake up next day morning look at the phone, same exact issue (full signal strength no network)
Background:
- Unlocked Rogers 9000 using Fido network (been using it for 6 months with no problems)
- 4.6.0.162 (platform 4.0.0.155)
Any suggestion? will an upgrade to new OS fix (i am working on that now)?

Upgraded OS to v4.6.0.303 (Platform 4.0.0.248) and Problem Fixed
Network is connected and all apps work fine. I will provide an update should it occur again.

its unfortunate that the situation is back again.. my finding is that the above solution did not work. Am I facing a hardware problem?
Note: I placed the sim card in another sonyericsson phone (that am using now instead) and it works absolutly fine.
Any suggestions?

Now, either SOS or Full Signal Bar .. no network.
Folks,, do these symptoms ring any bell to a common problem and a fix?

during the last week, I ve had dropped calls, then it would show SOS in the top right. I tried turning off the radio and also changed to 2G only, same, no diff. A hard reboot would fix the issue. This happened to me about 4-5 times last week. Weird thing is that it only happened at home. I have a 9000 for work and a 9700 for personal work, and the 9700 had no issues whilst the 9000 was in SOS. I couldnt figure it out either. I wanted to blame the network but why would my 9700 be ok on 3G when my 9000 was stuck on SOS.
I live near Langley, BC, on Rogers...

Your symptoms matches mine 100% ! In fact, it is disconnecting only when I enter home. The only logical connect I can think of is the WiFi and the wireless home network; however, my WiFi is and has always been off.
It use to randomly work before after numerious Phone Off/Battery Remove trials, now that you mentioned the Alt+Shift+Del; it worked perfectly. Well, at least I got a temporary fix for the time being, I hope to continue the hunt until I found a permenant fix.

Guys take out your sim cards & clean the gold pads gently with an erasure until its nice & shiny again & put it back in..See if it happens still
Good Luck

I've been having this same problem. I called Rogers and they told me nothing was wrong with the network but suggested I set my connection to 2G. Huh?
Anyway, when I lose the connection, I go into the setup and connect using 2G. Then I can switch it back to 3G and it works fine again.
It's especially frustrating because I often don't notice that the connection has dropped and my battery is being drained by the phone trying to reconnect.

Is there a reason you are using 4.6? Try OS 5.0
Better battery life, performance, memory management... I don't see why not. Unless someone has a reason why 5.0 is bad?

I am currently having the same problem with my 9700 on Bell. Had the phone for almost 2 months and got great signal at home. Woke up yesterday and now cant' get a signal at all. Switches between searching for signal and sos. Done 3 bat pulls, three soft boots, nothing helped. Managed to get one bar of signal last night and called tech support for bell, they say network is ok, I should be getting a signal. In the middle of the conversation with the tech girl it lost the signal. Going to take it to the bell store and see what they say.

Argh
Ok, I bought my phone 2 weeks ago and everything was working perfectly. At home everywhere. I wake up one night go to place a call and notice that the network says SOS. I figure because of the weather the network must be having problems. Next day it worked fine. Now however whenever I'm home the phone doesn't work. If I do the whole show and reboot it eventually I can get it to go again but it doesn't last. After about 20-30 minutes boom again the same thing. I've changed the sim card. Cleaned the sim card. Done hard boots soft boots. Called tech support and nothing is getting rid of this problem. It works if I'm out of the house but I need to phone to also work in the house like it was when I brought it home. Has anyone had any luck solving this problem?? Please tell me how??
I'm using a bb bold 9700 on the bell network. Now I'm wondering if I should have just gone with an iphone from the beginning.
