Default suretype hate it, hate it -->Love it!!

Please Login to Remove!

Someone in BB land, please tell me there is a way to shut off suretype permanently. Every time I text or anything with the keyboard I have to enable multitab. Have been in language field and changed in there but nothing works.
Thanks

The first thing I tell people when they first start using SureType is to NOT look at the screen until you are done typing the word you want. As you are typing the word, it may not look like the correct word if you're only part way thru typing it.

Try this: Type the word 'that', but don't look at the screen until after the last T. Press each key once: TY, then GH, then AS, then TY again. What word do you get?

Give it two weeks. You'll never want to go back to multitap.

I am strongly recommending that you give it a little more time. It really is well though out and the "See" and "Are" type things are something you will come to watch for. It is VERY efficient if you type a lot. Ok, you have been admonished...

Go into a message and compose a message and hit Menu>Enable Itap.

Don't do it...you will suffer for months and years to come. The pearl has more keys that a regular keyboard for which tap was designed.

I thought you just said you *loved* you 8130?!?!

I hated it at first as well. I used multitap for the first week and I decided to try it during the weekend and after a day of using it, I have been using it since.

I felt exactly the same way as you did. It drove me absolutely nuts. But Suretype will actually remember the words you normally use and will "recommend" them in the future.

No, you don't have to backup if the word doesn't start with the 1st letter on the keyboard. Try the typing test I suggested, and don't backup:

Press each key once: TY, GH, AS, TY. You should get the word 'that'.

Now try this word - press each key ONCE and don't back up:

GH AS ER DF - you should get the word 'hard'.

You bet ! Just keep working on it and you'll start to like it.

There will be some key combinations that will give you the wrong word - like you may get 'see' when you want 'are'. But you can just scroll to the right and select the one you really want.

Better go fix you Custom Dictionary: Options icon -> Custom Dictionary.

I go thru mine every now and then and clean out the odd words that make their way in there. Like 'ygr' instead of 'the'.

I just did, it's not in there.. hehe

My phone does that sometimes though. That's not a custom word for some reason, it doesn't show up as italics, and its not in my list =)

I love suretype though, its just my phone goofs every so often
