You must have a BlackBerry Data Plan on your account. gprs means that you can't conenct to the RIM infrastructure.

I am already using BIS+ BB 9700 on the same SIM.
It works perfect EDGE (as we don't have 3G here).

But 8830WE is acting up.
What is unlocking data services.

Did you log into your BIS page at Vodafone and enter the PIN & IMEI for the 8830WE so the data plan on your account becomes associated with that particular device?

There is no manual input method for pin and imei now.

BIS login >> change device ..
You see a button saying Detect New Device.

It will detect only if device is latched to BIS.

And my device doesn't latches.

Do u know any tricks or sort off

Then how to you activate a new BlackBerry? No BlackBerry comes latched to BIS. I've never heard of the auto-detect method of finding the PIN and IMEI and getting them into the carrier's system, but it sounds like it should recognize any device connected and read the information. That has nothing to do with it being registered already or not.

Normally when I insert my SIM card in blackberry (like my 9700 or my sister's 8900, old storm1) it automatically goes to capital EDGE, and send me welcome email.

But my other email are not synced to device, now either i have to call Vodafone representatives or manually log in BIS and click on button xxx8220;Detect New Devicexxx8221; and it automatically shows new BB pin and my other email will be synced.

You canxxx8217;t enter pin and imei manually any more, it use to be ages back.
Now, my 8830 WE, doesnxxx8217;t latch to BIS, means no GPRS only gprs.
And when I click on Detect New Device it says "Unable to detect new device, It may take a few minutes for a new device to be detected. Make sure your SIM car is in your new device and try again, If you donxxx8217;t have a SIM card, make sure your device is activated and try again"

But it never detect new device, no matter what.

I have also attached image of BIS change device page.
