Default Switching Browsers

Please Login to Remove!

I just downloaded an app called Blackberry News Feeds. I really like the idea of a news ap like this where I can control the feed topics. However, the feeds are only sentence-long in length and of coarse, there are times when I would like to click the provided link and read the entire article. That said, my problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to click on that link and open that article with my Opera Browser as opposed to the Blackberry Browser. Can I not change this option? I would like all of my apps to use Opera, not the built-in phone browser. If anybody knows how to remedy this, I would greatly appreciate it and I'm sure(considering the inefficiency of the Blackberry Browser) that I'm not alone.

As far as I know you cannot set an aftermarket browser to be the default browser.

As an aside, maybe at some point the news reader app will open the feed within the app, as some other feed reader apps do, and as the RIM news reader app does on the PlayBook.

Well if it isn't possible to do it directly through the phones options, then mabey there is an app which can provide a work-around. I'm thinking this because I've noticed in the SETTINGS of another news app that I have(this one by the Associate Press) , under DISPLAY, it provides an option of opening links with either the "Application Browser" or the "Phone's Browser". I'm thinking if its possible for one app to have this control over itself, then mabey there is an app out there which is specifically designed to control all third-party apps in this regard.

That's what I was referring to in my aside. That other feed reader app gives you the option to open the article within the app, or in other words using a "browser" that is part of the app. But that setting is not changing the default browser.

I doubt there is the kind of app you are speculating. I haven't seen it and never seen anything like it mentioned.

Yeah, can't be done currently. Links will open in the BlackBerry Browser.
