i bought an unlocked t-mobile blackberry 8520 to use with at&t..i already have a data plan with at&t..its just not the BB data plan..

my question is..do i have to have a BB data plan in order to use internet on the phone without wifi..& will at&t even let me buy the plan if i didnt buy the phone from them?

3. they will find that you have a blackberry through an IMEI sweep and automatically add the blackberry data to your account anyway.
Phone them up and ask for it.

Hi everyone and greetings from malta. I just joined as i have an issue with my 8520 curve. I have vodafone MT as my carrier and do not have an internet data plan although i can make use of my wifi using the Hotspot browser setting instead of using vodafone's servers. Up to about a week ago i could log onto my wifi as normal ,although it seems some settings have changed and when i attempt to access my wifi ,apart from noticing that the web browser i use is in a normal computer format instead of the mobile version ,it freezes after a few seconds of trying to browse. Can someone tell me what this could be?. My data services under mobile networks options is switched on.
Hope i can get some help regarding this, thanks

Hi I'm from South Africa as far as I know prepaid customers can also use bbs without contract but need to register for blackberry service and need to have the amount on your prepaid card to pay for bbs. Call your service provider to find out how they work. But here we can use bbs with prepaid.

i have BB 8520 Curve
i connect it to My WLAN "WiFi" And It Have IP and DNS Every Thing
but when try to open browser i got
"unable to connect ... try later.. contact service provider"
and when i try to setup the "hotspot" i got same
i set the browser to hotspot but same
please help
