It might be me but my friend has the 8520 & we were the other day at Verizon and I got the impression that the 8530 was better built than the 8520.

I have been agonizing on whether or not I should purchase. I haven't seen anything that says it comes with a flash for the camera phone. It seems that this is the only drawback....

8330 --> 9630 -->8530???

If it were me, I wouldn't get the 8530 after having a Tour. The 8530 does not have a flash and the camera is 2.0MP vs 3.2MP that the Tour has. I just received one as a test device for work and....no flash.

The trackpad is very nice. If you're going to agonize, agonize over the Tour 1 vs. Tour 2.

If only I could get a firm release date from Sprint...

im happy with my 8530 on sprint but not fully - there some things i feel could be better one is signal range -my old katana had a lot better signal (i know that was just a cell phone). and battery life also there (sprint/blackberry) user guides could really been much use friendly for new blackberry users as myself.
as in giving a screen symbol sign user guide . i had to ask a sprint rep.what one was on mine . turned out to be for voice mail ,and he informed me as to what key to hit to retrive them. also couldn't find info on turning on /off speaker phone .found that key myself after a long search of the keypad. it could of been colored in red/blue or green to make it easyer to fine for general users .and seeing there a new push going on to make it you have to use speaker phone or headset .when driving your car any place in the USA . good idea i have go along with after somethings i have seen drivers do while on the phone in there car.

Post Bb 8530

Hell BBF'ers, I too just got my bb curve 8530 for free from radio shack website. It was a promo and all I paid was shipping. Im very pleased with this phone. I have noticed the lack of 8530 postings on this site so I wanted to post something at least. This is my first BB and I wonder what is the largest Sd card that can be used in my 8530 and if larger cards drain more battery?

If you read you User Manual, it tells you what the max SD card is that can be used. I have a Tour and a Curve (8330). The Tour has 16mb card and Curve has 4. SD cards don't drain the battery, constant vibrating and leaving BT on when not in use drains battery. The 8530 will support up to 32 mb SD card. Refer to your manual...it's handy.

Default Need Help with Calendar synching.

I just upgraded from the 8330 to the 8530 (Verizon). On my old 8330, all my calendar entries were created using the "Default Desktop" label for the Send using field. All the calendar entries were imported to the new 8530. However, when I open my Outlook calendar to synch (both ways, desktop <> device), it wants to add all the calendar entries from Outlook to my device. How do allow synching both ways without having duplicate entries (over 1000) on my device? I am hoping that there is a solution, it seems that I run in to this problem whenever I am replacing a device or upgrading one.

Just ordered an 8530 from VZW online to replace my 8830. Love my 8830, but I'm on my 4th trackball failure in 2 years and just don't want to deal with balls any longer. Was holding out for a Tour 2 with Trackpad, but I can get the Curve for free now. Pretty much a no-brainer.

From what I've read here on the forum, I think I will be very happy. Oh, hell, at this point I'll be happy with anything that doesn't have a trackball!

ok, so I am debating on if I am going ot upgrade from the 8330 to the 8530. I just discovered that there is no flash for the camera. What is that about. I am always taking pictures and the flash is kina important.

If you really need the flash frequently for night pics, then hold out. If you don't think you need the flash, rock on I say.

Well me wife and I recently joined the BB world.

I have the 8530 and she has the Tour.

Both phones are cool, the Tour has a couple more features (that we've found so far) camera 3.2mp, flash, but the 8530 has WIFI, the Tour does not.

Otherwise pretty awesome phones, love being able to fully customize them as well.
