Default Do I need to update my BlackBerry?

Please Login to Remove!

When I called t-mobile to ask about updating my OS they asked me to press alt some numbers and it opened up the Help Me! Menu.

For App Version it says 4.6.1.259 (403)

But I see at the top of this forum that a newer OS is out for BlackBerry Curve 8520

IMHO, if the device isn't broken (meaning it works as you want and need), then there is no need to fix it (meaning update the OS). The forum is full of updates gone bad, apps that don't work, functions that don't work, etc. etc. But of course we mainly see the problems, not all of the successes.

Still, and I am probably in the minority, why risk screwing it up if it really doesn't need it?

Best thing to do is read through the threads about each OS and see if there is anything that they talk about that interests you or makes you shy away. OS upgrades are easy but as Dubdub said, they can go wrong and cause problems.

I upgraded mainly for the threaded SMS. If you like your BlackBerry just fine then just leave it.

Wirelessly posted (well lookie here!)

I'm inclined to agree if the device is working well for you leave it be! If after reading some threads about the update and there are features you like that aren't currently available to you go for it!
Follow the step correctly and if you have any problems you know where to find us!

Ditto on the above. At least wait a while and get some experience with the device. Either way, stick with what you got if it is working, or upgrade just because you want to experiment or because you want the latest, but use the device a while and get some experience with it, and learn.
