Default Browser - Mobile Websites - it sucks...

Please Login to Remove!

Hi!

Whenever I open a website from which it is also a mobile version available, mobile version is automatically loaded. Can we prevent it? Mobile versions are on cell phone certainly makes sense, but with the playbook I would like to see the normal version!

Is there a solution??

Thanks and regards
Marcus

Not really.
Contact the developer of the website. They would need to change the browser detection settings on their end.

Disable Javascript, this stops redirects if they are done using javascript.

(Javascript the one of the roots of evil anyway)

all good websites have an option to view the full version. usually in the footer or something, there will be a link to the full version of the website.

it's really up to the developer to do that type of thing, though.

Disable JS will help with some websites, but will break the functionality of others.

But, most websites are made by people who do not care much about the mobile view of the site. If there is any, it will be most likely wong for a device like the PB, and often even wrong for the Blackberry.

If RIM had built in an option to change the Browser Identity string, all problem are solved. And, of you could make a bookmark which also will remember the Browser ID + javascript settings for a specific site, really everyone will be happy.

Agreed, but the other users will get up set that they have to know so much to get a website to open correctly. no easy way to wim this one.

KISS method works

Web browsing has never been a strong point for BlackBerry. The new OS 6 browser, based on the Safari WebKit, is a huge improvement. But it's still not great.

mhm,
this feature was present in all OS version i know until OS6 in the BB - why was it not implemented in Safari on both the PB and the BB - at least the feature to set the Browser ID string is present already in the Desktop version ?

The browser can default to the current behaviour, so even the unexperienced users will have not problem.
