I just used my fingernail. In 5 minutes I had it off with no damage.

i got mine off with half penny and half using my nail. It appears that the tmobile logo is kinda dug into the phone. So i rubbed off the white text but from angles you can see the logo. I also did 2 layers of sharpe black to dull make it match more. maybe i will use compound.... who knows...

I used a penny(very softly) and my fingernail also. Not one scatch. The trick is to rub soft, but longer. It will seem that nothing is happening at first, but I think the logo has some type of clear coat so once the coat is pentrated it starts to scratch off much faster. I also kept the penny and my finger wet. I do not know if the water did anything, but I know I would never try to scratch bugs or sap off my car without water. Hope this helps!

mine had the top layer as well..i rubbed it off with my finger and a penny as well.. but i still see the inlet of the tmobile logo in the phone.. as if it was burned in, or i didn't go deep enough and just got the white off. Anyway if you take that top layer off, it is no longer smooth like the rest of the phone. like i said before, i am going to go buy black compound from an auto parts store and buff it to see if it will be shiny again.

I had that problem, and used a nail buffer, then Brasso to take care of it.

A penny works PERFECT!! Make sure its a brand new one and lightly use the edge, comes off like butta.

I say be careful to any one trying this, because some of us have etched in logos that are below the clearcoat. So the logo comes off, and leaves a carved indentation (and very chip prone) that will break between the fine letters when using a penny/fingernail.

Shoot, I'm just gonna paint mine, or make it my "beach" phone.

Definately buying an 8800 Crimson, anyway.

THIS POST IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR ALL TO KNOW ABOUT!!!!! I got my 8100 replaced because of the battery cover, but i was dumb enough to try this... Now i have a new one with the logo..

I bought a piece of gloss black vinyl and covered it. I gave my phone to 3 people and asked if they could find anything wrong with my phone. I was seeing if anyone could find the seam of the vinyl on the bottom. Not one person found it. The vinyl is so thin you wont be able to find the seam unless I told you it was there. I tried the penny trick and it took some clear coat off.

I'm thinking of buying a dummy phone, and replacing parts when I have the time....

Once you have one mark, amazingly others follow suit. My 8100 is looking more utilitarian every day, and I don't mind as much, so long as the screen is crisp.
