Default **** it! I love my Torch, but the buttons are peeling off!

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure what to do. I really like the device all around, but when the "buttons" come all the way off (and I'm sure they will soon), then what? I'm nearing the 30-day mark. If it happens after that, I'll get a refurb, right? $500+ for a refurb doesn't sit well... what to do...

The red end call button is sticking up from the device. I can see under it.

If you decide to keep the 9800, please update your profile with the new model number.

Have not had that problem with my 9800. Got it on day 1.

I believe Penguin was referring to the utterly appalling spelling of your posts.

Sorta.
I was referring to the poor impersonation of a previous user here named 'Galvatron' whose butchering of the English language was both embarrassing and entertaining.

This new user, who is trying to pass himself off as the old Galvatron, is just annoying.

@rdef

I had the same issue with my 3rd Torch. The buttons aren't actual buttons on all Torches. Some have real buttons...some have the stupid sticker. I can't believe RIM actually ships phones with a sticker instead of buttons.

Nonetheless, I gave up on the Torch and swapped mine out for a Bold 2 (9700) on Saturday. Sure...I miss OS 6, but the 9700 will get it some day.

For now I have the most solid hardware RIM has ever shipped with a very solid OS 5, and all of my apps work. Oh...and the battery life smokes the Torch.

Just keeping my fingers crossed that OS 6 will come soon!!!

Are you sure that some have stickers and some have buttons? I have not heard that before...

Can you actually take a picture of it so that we can see what you are talking about? I know the buttons come with the plastic film to protect it but that is supposed to come off.

I can report the same issue starting with my Torch also. I got mine on day one, and it has just started lifting up at the exact same spot. I have been very happy with it until this started happening.

Can you take a pic of the trackpad where your thumb is? seems like either you have something falling below it or there is a crack on your button since the whole thing is one piece for the four 'functional' buttons.

Just trying to understand how that is possible given the way the buttons sit below the chasis bezel to begin with.

Seems mine was made in Mexico 5 so probably why mine does not have issues. I guess some of the earlier manufactured ones had major issues with build quality ... that sucks. Saw the thread on CB posting about build regions and locations.
