Default 8520 curve and App world

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my first ever BlackBerry which a Curve 8520 as per tittle but i'm trying to figure out if i can install the App world on it.

I've seen somewhere that said i need BlackBerry OS version 4.2.0 or higher on several devices to install App world and one of the devices listed was a Curve 8520 but when i goto install it via Internet explorer i get my device is unsupported....etc, I have v4.6.1.275 installed if that's neccessary.

Can i get the App world on my particular BlackBerry and if so how can i install it.

Cheers

First, you absolutely MUST have a BlackBerry data plan or bolt-on to use App World.

When you say "Internet Explorer" I assume you're trying to download it via pc and install through Desktop Manager. You must use the right download link for that and have ActiveX Controls installed and enabled. Maybe check your security settings in IE.

What i did or was trying to do is instead of downloading and installing App world via my Blackberry i was trying to do it via my PC.

I know i need a data plan and i got one when i purchased my BlackBerry but i'd assume you could download the App world via a PC to your phone no matter if have a data plan or not but then if you didn't have one you'd not be able to use it until you got a data plan.

Just point your Blackberry browser to mobile.blackberry.com.
There is a download link for App World at the top of the page.
Download over the air and you are done.

What message?
Have you tried a reset by pulling the battery before trying again?

This would be an incorrect assumption.

Microsoft Internet Explorer will not run on a BlackBerry.

You can change your BlackBerry Browser emulation by opening the browser and pressing the Menu button, selecting Options, selecting Browser Configuration and changing the browser identification/emulation setting from BlackBerry to Internet Explorer.
