Default Strange emails from bbadmin@eval.blackberry.com

Please Login to Remove!

I started receiving strange emails this afternoon... so far I have received about six... the always seem to come in pairs, and are addressed to two of the email addresses that are on my BIS account. They are currently being captured with my PC, and have not made it to my BlackBerry... and I am not sure I want them going there.

Can anyone tell me why I am getting them and what their purpose is?

Did you install the new 5.0 messenger?

It might have something to do with that

The message does come from your installation of the new BlackBerry Messenger.

I would not be alarmed by it. I think you will see more use of this at a later point when the BBM app is more fully released and all it's functions (i.e. locating friends and contacts via BBM) will be realized. Think "social networking".

More "social networking" than "spam" or "big brother"? Yes, I did install BBM 5.0. I figured that it was related, but wasn't sure about the purpose.

Couldn't tell you the purpose. Don't be alarmed however. It is verified here that it comes with the 5.0 install and it is from the blackberry domain.

Probably the team checking that your copy of BBM 5.0 is receiving properly. Compiling statistics before a wider release?

I got the messages too but they all went to my PC and did not make it to my BlackBerry. Wonder if that will affect anything...

I was wondering when this topic was going to show up. I installed BBM5 last night and was curious about the e-mail intergration with it. I have not received the e-mails from BB as of yet.

Got the emails from the web but not on my BB. I figured that it was related to BBM 5.0.

If the message is sent FROM your BlackBerry that's a little creepy. Especially after the whole Etisalat fiasco. Sounds like they've got your BB phoning (emailing) home to the mothership, and you have no say in it. Other than to avoid BBM 5.0 that is.

My exact same thoughts.

Also, if you check under: Options>Security Options>General Settings and under "Services" you see an entry for [BBMSGR] {3DES}.

Are you guys sure that it doesn't get to your BlackBerry? Just because it isn't in your message inbox doesn't mean it didn't make it there right? I noticed that the email said something like "Please allow this email to go through and it will be captured by BlackBerry Messenger..." or something. So is it possible that once the message hit our phones, that Messenger picked it up and did something with it so it never appears in our inbox?

You know what else is kinda creepy? I use gmail and when I get those messages from BBADMIN. Every time I'm done viewing it, it disappears from my inbox on it's own. In fact, even if I don't view it, it still eventually disappears from my inbox. So in my case, I think the emails are going through to my phone and then after Messenger intercepts it, it deletes it from my email server as well.

I have not installed BBM 5.0. I am receiving these emails. Any thoughts.

I recently installed OS 4.6.0.282 0n my Bold - the BBM version is 4.6.0. I have been getting messages from 5.0 users.

My best guess is that it's an update when one of your friends allows you to access their location details etc, as no BBM settings are stored at RIM, I guess they're being stored by both yours and your friends device.

Like I said, just a guess, but an educated one....

I think it's due to the add by email option of BB Messenger. Verifies an email tag to a PIN.

Oh, and that's a guess on my part.
