Default Bold support for 4-connector / volume-control earbuds?

Please Login to Remove!

Was thinking about getting Apple's new in-ear headhones (to be available any day now) that come with a mic and volume control. Obviously there are plenty of headphones that come with answer/end/mic features (i.e. the set that comes packaged with the Bold) but I'm specifically want volume control. Any chance this will work? If not, is it due to a software issue or a hardware/connector issue?

That would be cool... But how do you keep the headphones who come with the Bold to stay in your ear??

Interesting. Metro.Fi is on my list of alternatives. Do they make a pair with volume control? Does that Bold support headphones with in-line volume control?

i don't think so, but imho it is a waste of weight hanging from your ears.
the ultimate ears just have a mic and a button. very light and extremely comfortable. i listen to music and when a call comes in, the music is interupted by a ring tone, i press the button on the ear bud cord and the call comes in. when i am done with the call, the music resumes from where it left off.
volume control with the buttons of the side of the phone work great for me.

Cool, thank you all for the responses. That's a main reason why I want Apple's new in-ear buds. Volume control/mic is very small and light. I'd be willing to sacrifice audio quality for these features.

The link Kriptic posted is great...I just wonder if the bulky volume control device is intercepting the commands, or if it's the Bold actually doing the work.

I'm pretty sure the Bold is doing the work. I doubt they have any circuitry in there to adjust power.

Well, it turns out Apple's new in-ear headphones don't work with the Bold. The end/answer/mute button works, but not the volume control. Argh! Does anyone know if this is a software or hardware limitation? The link Katerpiller posted, for the Premium pair of buds, seem like the volume control is handled by the headphones, not the Bold. Not sure though. Can anyone say definitively?
