Default Just got my new 7250...

Please Login to Remove!

I just finished setting up my new 7250 and I must say that I am impressed, even coming from a much newer phone, a Moto Q. I have to get used to using the scroll wheel all the time instead of just when I felt like it. I wiped the entire device when I first opened it, afterwards I installed the latest OS (4.1) for the device. Then I activated and set up my new blackberry email and school email. It runs quite faster, faster than a Moto Q, seems to be stable and loads web pages pretty nicely. I get the EVDO signal so it moves along pretty well. Now that I am officially a cool Blackberry user I have some questions, which may be newbish, but don't flame.

-Can I change the wallpaper so it isn't just white?
-Is there anyways to make the phone screen and key's light up when I'm receiving a phone call or text?
-Is there anyway to make it so it doesn't store text messages, missed calls and dialed calls in the messages screen, I don't really care to keep those after I've viewed them, just the inbox.
-Is the screen supposed to stay on all the time, even when the backlight goes out? I noticed that there is the Verizon sign after it sits for awhile, but the screen is still on, just no backlighting.
-Do you know a good location to get midi ringtones, themes, wallpapers and apps for the 7250? I noticed that the 7250 has no support for mp3, which sucks, but I'll get over it.
-Is there a screen that shows open programs, like a task manager, which I can kill open programs. I had to do this all the time to ensure that my Moto Q didn't get bogged down and I don't want to see this happen to my Berry.

That's all for now, I hope this isn't too many questions to ask in a single post. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

The 7250 is pretty old and can not accomodate many of the newer media formats.

Look in the Media Forum for questions about wallpapers and ringtones. I don't believe there are any 3rd party themes for the 7250.

Check out "BBLight" which may help with your backlighting questions.

Press and hold the ALT key and press the trackwheel. The open applications will appear.

Yeah, I understand that the phone is older. I don't really care about ringtones or videos or pictures, just takes up space. Thanks for the response, I'll look into BBLight. I tried the ALT + Pressing trackwheel and I could only choose to move/hide application, which is still pretty cool as I didn't know that before. I don't see the open applications screen.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

My last device was a 7250. It was a great device based on the technology of that moment.
There are some programs on the desktop which enable you to take pictures and transform them into the wallpaper size of your device. Unfortunately, as NJ Blackberry stated there is a lot of limitations with the device. For E-mail and basic Outlook features, its fine.

Yeah, I've found some website that actually resize the picture for you and will send it to your phone for you. The phone is pretty great, I just wish the ringer was a little bit louder, I have the volume turned all the way up but it still doesn't seem loud enough for me. No one ever answered my question, is the screen supposed to stay on all the time? I noticed that my screen is on all the time that the phone is on, the backlight will disappear and the idle screen pops up, but it just stays there, the screen never goes blank.

ALT + Escape Key (under the wheel) will show open applications. Some apps cannot be closed/exited (Messages, Browser, Call Log, BB Messenger). 3rd party apps like Google Maps, BBWeather and such, though, should be closed/exited.

Yeah, after fooling around a little bit I saw that it was the button under the wheel. I noticed that some of the programs wouldn't close, so I am assuming that is correct. Thanks for the help. Still no one has answered on my always on screen question. Any help?

There are a few themes around for the 7250, I know I've found 2 or 3 anyway.
I'm more concerned about adding a louder (or more obnoxious) ringtone for it.

I was toying around with the idea of making a theme, but I have to research how to do it first.

Wirelessly posted (NakedBerry)

From the phone app click the trackwheel and go to options then "call logging". Click "none" and it won't make your missed calls come out as messages.

Short answer - no. 7250 is CDMA. 7290 is GSM. You can not use software for one on the other.
