Default Starting enterprise email while keeping email from old firm

Please Login to Remove!

I trying to figure out the best way to complete this setup. We have a user that has email and contacts from his old firm on his BB that he doesn't want to loose. He wan't us to get it sync'd with BESsy while keeping all his old info.

What's the best way to tackle this?

Does he have permission from his old company to keep this data?

I'm surprised that his old firm didn't wipe the device when he left. One thing I say you can do is export the existing contacts on his phone, save them as a PST or CSV file, then import them into his new Outlook profile. Then once he syncs the device, all the contacts will be there. Kind of the long and hard way to go about it but its a way you can do it.

That won't work. A restore wips out previous data.

Emails I am unsure about. Syncing those off the BB may be an issue but if you can pull them down to a local PC then as you know, making a PST is really easy. Depending on the number of emails he has, if it isn't too many, me might want to think about forwarding them to his new work email and then when he syncs up he'll get them back.

Do a full backup, wipe device, do a advanced restore and click on the .ipd backup file, select the messages, contacts, and anything else he wants, restore that data then do a EA.

Won't activating it remove any old messages?

I don't see why it would - EA doesn't wipe out BIS accounts setup.

Will EA erase all personal (gmail, hotmail, bberry, etc...) accounts as well?
Also, does the generic backup, backup personal account messages too?
