Bold making calls in my pocket
Please Login to Remove!
Even when I shut it off, it turns back on and is free to make calls..
I do not have a holster, nor do I really want one as they seem to add bulk.
I use the keyboard lock button on the top left, but that thing is useless.
it unlocks with one tiny little tap and ends up still making calls in my pocket
right now, my only solution, is to remove the battery when I do not plan to make a call, but then I may be missing one !
I have had this thing for about a year now.. and have not really begun trying to find a solution to this issue until now, as I normally don't have minutes.
is there a software solution to this ?
holding the mute button doesn't seem to put it to sleep... as I have read some do..

If you are against any kind of case, then I agree that password protecting it is your best option....and one you should do regardless of the problem you are having. You could also use an app lock program (some are free) which you could use to lock the phone itself which would solve the accidental phone calls.

How can a tap unlock the phone? It takes a press on the lock/unlock button to do that. I've carried my 97xx in my pockets forever - locked, and never had that issue.

all I know is that I keyboard lock it, and the next thing I know, its unlocked in my pocket.
its REALLY easy to see how it does that, just tap it and it unlocks again.. one tap "locks" it, and another one unlocks it.. period.
all that needs to happen is to bend down, and it unlocks when in my front PANTS pocket.
I do not keep it in my back pocket as there is a chance I will sit on it and snap it or something..
I now password protect it, but people, try it yourselves.. If you take it out to make or answer a call.. then "press" the lock button.. one more press will unlock it, and if its under the minute or two , the password does not need to be input again..
I notice if its "locked" and off for a few minutes, you will need to use the password.. but only after a few minutes, till then, its basically password free..
I will look into some of the skinnier covers I guess..

I think the shortest you can set the timeout for is 1 minute, so he'd still have that issue for that minute. Locking the phone with an app lock doesn't have that problem, but could be a hassle when the phone is being used. A thin case sounds like the best bet.

yeah, the timeout thing sucks anyway.. while recording video and such it shuts itself off and stops any recordings...
thin case here I come.
maybe a case will also stop it from hanging up on people when I hit the button with my ear.

It's hard for me to grasp the concept of pocket carrying. I believe that is the source of the dropped my phone in the toilet threads. Case with a belt clip for me.  |

I have never had my 9700 turn on and make a call on me once I hit the shoulder lock. Keyboard Lock MAY get unlocked in the pocket but not Stand By lock on top of the phone.

I have Pass lock set to 5 min, never had problems. You can manually lock it before putting in the pocket.

Do you put the phone in your pocket upside down? That might be the issue.
Also, how do you unlock the phone from the keyboard? I wasn't able to find a way. *+A does not work in OS6.

As others have suggested, use a case.
Even with password protect, you can accidentally call 911.
