Default Sprint Connection Manager for 7250 EVDO

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone checked out the new Sprint Connection Manager for tethering the 7250 for use as a modem? It's out there for download at sprintpcs.com\downloads under Windows XP. It's not working for me yet but it looks like Sprint is going to support tethering with the 7250.

Ok, I found out from my conversation with Nathan a Sprint tech that you have to have the "use phone as modem" feature enabled. Duh, my bad.

braz, I don't have it working because I didn't want to pay for tethering yet. I am testing SharkModem though and that seems pretty good so far.

ahhhhh, I didn't know there was a fee involved, that sort of sucks. I assumed that they were going to let you use the data plan that we already pay for.

Call Sprint and tell them you want that added to your line.

Have BB service via corporate account with a 7250 and Sprint. 2 weeks ago asked Sprint to add Modem service. Rep on phone said done and it would cost and extra $4/mo and would be enabled in 2-4 hours. Two days later, it still didnt' work. Sprint Connection program could not find modem. I can add COM4 to XP and query the modem. BB still works. Called back again, another rep said that service installed by other rep was wrong. Said it would not cost extra $4/mo but actually cost $5/mo less that my regular BB service. I should have know then that something was wrong (more service, cheaper price). The next day, the modem was still not working. In addition, my email was no longer working. Between these two attempts, I spent 15 hours on the phone. I went into Sprint store today. They said both reps were wrong. Modem support would cost and extra $39/mo. He could not fix my system and told me to call an 800 number. The rep (the 4th one in 10 days) resent my service so the mail would start working. Something about a 1.X needs to be displayed on top right of screen instead of 1.x. This rep said the modem should also start working in a few hours. A few hours later, no modem. Funny stuff. Tech support at Sprint is marginal. It takes about 1/2 hour to get to them after waiting on hold. Strange thing is another family member has a newer BB and got it working in only one week (still to long). He said his says 1.XEV or something like that. Going to escalate to my corporate rep as this is wasting my time. I like sprint too but their BB support is poor.

i have mine working and didnt pay anything.... but it is very tricky to get working... you need to have the BB desktop installed, and the conn manager.. i use mine all the time and dont pay anything extra for anything....

when it is connected it says "phone as mode enabled" i surf for hrs and never get any sorta extra charge...

1 start BB desktop
2 plug in BB
3 go to dev manage and query modem
4 after it gets ok response start the conn manager
5 click go and happy surfin..

Out of curiosity, with Sprint down there does your "Unlimited Data" plan have a cap on it when using the 7250 as an Ev-DO modem?, I know up here with Bell, my "Unlimited Data" plan has a cap of 250MB, which is plenty if you are just surfing around the net, but not quite "Unlimited" if you know what I mean.

Sounds like Sprint Customer Care at its best. I think all you need is the newest version of PCS Connection Manager (which has the drivers required for a BlackBerry), and Desktop Manager. The unlimited data plan is all you need - everything you've heard so far is off. I wish I could say that I've got it working, but I'm still waiting for the demo 7130 in my store to get the email service attached to it. BTW, what OS are you running on your computer? Oh, and one more thing: 1X on the top right corner of the screen denotes regular speed, and 1xEV denotes EV-DO speed.
