I can add COM4 to XP and query the modem. BB still works. Called back again, another rep said that service installed by other rep was wrong. Said it would not cost extra $4/mo but actually cost $5/mo less that my regular BB service. I should have know then that something was wrong (more service, cheaper price). The next day, the modem was still not working. In addition, my email was no longer working. Between these two attempts, I spent 15 hours on the phone. I went into Sprint store today. They said both reps were wrong. Modem support would cost and extra $39/mo. He could not fix my system and told me to call an 800 number. The rep (the 4th one in 10 days) resent my service so the mail would start working. Something about a 1.X needs to be displayed on top right of screen instead of 1.x. This rep said the modem should also start working in a few hours. A few hours later, no modem. Funny stuff. Tech support at Sprint is marginal. It takes about 1/2 hour to get to them after waiting on hold. Strange thing is another family member has a newer BB and got it working in only one week (still to long). He said his says 1.XEV or something like that. Going to escalate to my corporate rep as this is wasting my time. I like sprint too but their BB support is poor.

Sounds like Sprint Customer Care at its best. I think all you need is the newest version of PCS Connection Manager (which has the drivers required for a BlackBerry), and Desktop Manager. The unlimited data plan is all you need - everything you've heard so far is off. I wish I could say that I've got it working, but I'm still waiting for the demo 7130 in my store to get the email service attached to it. BTW, what OS are you running on your computer? Oh, and one more thing: 1X on the top right corner of the screen denotes regular speed, and 1xEV denotes EV-DO speed.
