Well, I upgraded to 190 just fine. Camera works fine, jpeg shows thumbnails fine but Live Search does not work at all. Anyone know why?

Just wondering ... since my carrier is Rogers, if I install some other carrier's OS version, won't it mess up my settings and everything ?
Thanks .

I'm wondering if we are in the same boat... downloaded the 4.7 DM since the installer on the CD offerred to check for newer software and I think it screwed up my hours old Bold so that Messenger won't load properly (I've seen the other posts here) and I am considering installing 185 just to see if it helps.

I am pretty sure the instructions at the start of this thread told us how to get rid of issues with vendor specific files...

How odd ... it won't let me do it :/
I got 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel326_PL4.0.0.169_A4.6.0.185_TIM_I tatly.exe, followed the instructions step-by-step, and I get "No software update is required for your device".
Anyone, please ?
Thanks.
Edit: well scratch that, I used loader.exe and it worked like a charm. Though I do have the thumbnails problem as well :(

Hi, sorry for the "super-noob" post, but does upgrading the OS alter changes I've made on my BB? I'm worried it will "reset" all the changes I've made to ringtones, notification profiles, icon layouts, etc.

Thanks,

Mac

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

No, a backup is made during the process and will be restored afterward. Everything will be restored.

What about for downgrades? If I had problems with the new OS, can I revert back to the previous OS (in my case .167) in the same way the upgrade worked, or does a downgrade require a wipe and reinstall?

Remove the newer OS from your PC (control panel > Add/Remove programs) and if the old OS is still installed, you will be prompted for a downgrade.

Besides, i wouldn't upgrade to this OS, use the .190 release in the Sticky Note at the top of this section of the forum instead.

Although you will likely have no reason to want to downgrade.

I just upgraded to this today from .167, I couldn't ask for the upgrade to have been any smoother. So far so good, but I've only been running it a few hours. Between .185 and .190 it seemed people were having fewer glitches with .185.

UPDATE:
I'm loving .185, battery life is MUCH better than .167!!!! Memory is holding study at 40-41mb(52mb after install & battery pull) YouTube works very well. WeatherEye freaked out after restore and only showed 3 wavey lines; but a delete&reinstall fixed it, working fine ever since.
