what's the resolution for the iPhone? I have both so if it's the same then i won't have to convert two different resolution copies.

I'm going to have to try that again. I'm having issues with all the programs so I had to uninstall them each. I will try that DVDFab again, if i can get the trial again... I am also thinking of just going in to CC or BB and looking for a program... i dunno...

When you play the movie, does it start with the DVD menu? So if you wanted to turn the subtitles on, you could?

In their "portable device" ripping mode, no, it just rips the movie.

So I have tried to rip the dvd wedding crashers and have had a lot of trouble figuring out how to get the correct file. I keep getting the file with the director commentary which is not how I want to rip it. Any ideas on how to do this? Anyone rip wedding crashers yet and figure out the proper file to rip?

I am using this

there are many ways to skin this cat - if you search the forums, you'll get lots of recommendations and I'm sure they're all very good.

Personally I use DVD Decrypter (free) to rip the DVD to a .IFO file. Then I use Videora for iPhone (the iPhone has the same resolution as the Bold) to rip. Videora is free too.

Herre is the relevant Videora page:
Videora iPhone 3G Converter - Free iPhone 3G Video Converter

...and this page explains how to rip a DVD to a single .IFO file using DVD Decrypter:

DVD to iPhone Video Converter Guide

I've used the highest quality 2 pass H.264 setting - and have been very impressed by the quality on my Bold. Have had no sync issues. A Movie will typically be 500MB to 700MB in this format.

Thanks,

Steve

ok so I was able to rip a movie to my phone, looks pretty good, audio & video are perfect, but doesn't exactly fill the screen but I could live with it... only thing is it's playing the subtitles?!? Do I have to rip it again, and is there something I missed that caused it to copy the subtitles??

BTW I used DVDfab and it looks pretty good!

I use DVDFab as well and it fits the screen perfectly. I downloaded the DVDFab profile editor (beta - search google) and added 480x320 resolution since the iPod/iPhone profile did not support it. Worked great.

Yes, just un-check the options in the "Subpicture Language Extension" window.

Thanx, so I guess that means I have to re-rip them? And did anyone else figure out how to edit to custom settings using DVDFab?

Default Nidesoft Warning!!!!

The options and ability the software offers to use multiple devices are pretty good.

For now I am using the .MP4 for Blackberry from their drop down and changing the screen format to 480 x 320. It rips pretty quickly, with my estimated time at about 30 minutes for a full length 90 minute or so movie. I usually set it up, walk away do something else while it's ripping.

Also after playing around I have come to these settings that suit me for viewing, sound quality and good compression:

- BlackBerry MPEG-4 video
- 480 x 320 resolution

TV Show DVD's:

- 256 video bitrate
- 32 audio bitrate

Movie DVD's:

- 384 video bitrate
- 32 audio bitrate

Music Video / Concert DVD's:

- 512 video bitrate
- 128 audio bitrate

You can also crop, trim, enhance the volume, adjust the color and so on via the menus.
The trial worked but the paid version doesn't!!! Tried emailing their support since 12-27 requesting help or a refund!!!!
