Ok its really ALT + Right aA^ + DEL on the BB

this is only a soft reset though. I normally do it to free up memory.

This seems to work for any restarting needed (application uninstalled, free up memory) unless your OS is screwed and you need to restart it :P Then it's a battery pull, for sure.

Is that documented anywhere? I have never seen that before.

FWIW, I have never found a problem that simple Alt, Rt aA, Del could not clean up....

I guess the 3 buttons for reset is easier for people with the full cases, where taking the battery out is almost impossilbe without removing the case.

Yes. The SIM card has some volatile memory (mainly pertaining to the network list), and removing it removes the power source from the chip, thus clearing that memory.

On both my old 8700v and my new 9000, I always got what the FAQ says is a "Double soft reset". It's always made the screen go black and then after a while the red LED come on just like a battery pull or when upgrading the firmware.

I'm wondering if RIM have started recoding the reboot in newer models to be closer in function to a battery pull.

If you do a "cntl+alt+delete"(as I like to call it) while it is in the boot stages it seems me at least on my 8700 to perform something closer to a battery pull. "double shot reset" almost as good as a battery pull but sometimes not.

Removing the sim can force everything to reconnect again ( sometimes it will help force new service books to overwrite pre-existing fault ones.
