I am at 82% so far. Last time on the charger was 5 PM yesterday (Saturday) but I haven't had a lot of use this weekend.

What do you see specifically about the 9800 that puts the 9700 to shame, if you don't mind, as I am looking at the 9800, but still love my 9700.

I like the smaller size of the 9800 as compared to my old 9000. Also seems to run a bit faster. And battery life has shown to be better so far on the 9800.

I use a long ethernet cable, but I believe someone else said they used a wireless solution.

Yes--- the GPS light is on. It is not within line of sight of a window, but it is on and it is working. I don't think it worked before the light came on. It took about an hour and a half for the activation to occur, but it has been operational since--- a few months now, every since I bought it, and it raised my coverage from 'SOS' no bars to 5 solid bars.

Ok so that means you're able to acquire a gps link from your location. Dubdub, I guess it depends if you're going to be able to get a signal from where you want to put the unit.
