Re: White Screen of Death
Is there an error code such as JVM 507 or 523 or some other number? You probably have a corrupt file someplace from the upgrade in the form of a bad file, non compatible app or theme or a combination of that.
First off, try a battery pull - with the device on, remove the battery for 30 seconds or so, reinsert and let the device reboot. Does that clear the problem?
If not, do the following:
Wipe the device using jl_cmdr (see the FAQ) and then install the proper OS for your specific device using the info in the sticky at the top of the 9700 section. Follow the instructions exactly and make sure that you have the 9780 OS.

Re: White Screen of Death
It's not a software issue. Reinstalling the OS or upgrading will not fix it.
Yours is the first I've seen where it is intermittent. Don't know the significance of that, if any.
I also have not seen anyone present repair instructions, but I haven't really looked. You might search, and if you are handy, you may be able to fix it. Otherwise, look for a shop. One of the blackberryforums sponsors does repairs. Perhaps they'll give you some advice and tell you if it is worth repairing.

Re: White Screen of Death
First, you must understand that just because something follows some previous action, it does not necessarily mean the latter was caused by the former. Repeat your steps a large number of times and see what happens. And even if the problem went away for a period most of the time when you performed those steps, you would still need to verify it was the OS reinststall that caused it and not something else associated with the procedure. .... Bottom line is you can be reasonably sure it is a hardware problem. Many people have experienced the solid white screen, except not intermittent. Search for anyone who has repaired their device with this symptom; consult a repair shop; or get your mind around buying another BlackBerry or whatever.

Re: White Screen of Death
What have you spent on repairs already? Think what it is going to cost to fix, knowing what you know now. You might as well get another device. And you do not have to buy brand new.
