To downgrade you just have to go to add / remove programs in control panel, remove the newer OS and make sure the older one is installed. When you plug in your device and attempt to update software, desktop manager will ask you if you want to downgrade.

Thanks pal...I know how to find Google I was hoping that someone might post the link to thte actual site where they found the downloadable version of the OS. Interestingly, that would have taken about the same amount of time you took to post the link to Google.

Thank you! I've installed it and it does seem to work much better, most importantly battery life is much, much better, and of course more memory. It does seem stable as well.

Help !!! Tried to update however the connection to the device was lost (even though the cable was not removed from either the pc or blackberry). Now when I start up the blackberry it only gets to a white screen with lines across it. The pc doesn't recognise the blackberry and I cant roll back to the previous version.

Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know how I can stop these new firmwares from "downgrading" Docs2Go each time? I'm fed up of having to upgrade it every time. Isn't it about time RIM included the latest release now? It's been out long enough.

I am just wondering if you use you Desktop Manager 4.5 or 4.6? I use 4.6 as I have had problems with 4.5 in the past.

Others; I have .185 in my Bold and no complainst so far.

Well, if you'd taken the time to read the terms of use for the forum, or even some of the stickied threads, you'd see that posting links to beta software is not permitted here.

I may have missed it somewhere, but does it help or do anything for the vibrate feature? I am missing way to many calls when in meetings, have to sit with it in my hand. Have .167 from AT&T. Any help.

audil,

I would edit that post before one of the moderators finds it. That is against forum policy. Don't want to sound like a nanny here, but I am trying to keep you from getting banned.

Thank you for letting know. I thought the ban was against commercial and promotional links, not OS download one's. Thanks again.

In this case, it is due to the fact that it is not an "official" download link sanctioned by the developer.

I thought you could ONLY use Desktop Manager 4.6 with the Bold. That could be your problem if you are using anything else.

Default Are there more themes?

Are there more vendor provided than the 2 themes I see on my AT&T branded Blackberry?

If so, is there a modded Themes.alx or whatever for this?

Just curious. Also, can anyone verify if this bug is fixed in this firmware?

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...eo-reboot.html

Thanks!

As each of these new OS upgrades becomes available, it would be of great value if there was a source of info on what is changed in the new versions to help decide when to take the time and risk of upgrading.

Is there already a source of this info? Ideally, it would be best of RIM issued detailed release notes and a comprehensive version history but failing that, perhaps a thread on this forum where users could post their findings about the new releases would help.

Thanks

Are you volunteering?

Seriously, though, I asked that same question in the Pearl forums ages ago and the response i got was "Sure! Great idea! But who is going to do it?"

Dataviz had a posting for this issue..

Question:
How do I prevent the Blackberry Desktop Manager from downgrading my handheld software?

Answer:
If Documents To Go has only been downloaded and installed to the BlackBerry phone, and the Desktop Manager software on your computer contains an older version, connecting and synchronizing the BlackBerry with the computer may cause the handheld to be overwritten with the older version of Documents To Go. The following steps will prevent this from happening:

Close the BlackBerry Desktop Manager if it is running
Browse to the following location on your computer:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\"device software"\

NOTE: The "device software" folder typically has the model number of the phone in its name (e.g. 8800, 8100, etc).

Inside the "device software" folder, locate the file called DocumentsToGo.alx
Rename this file to DocumentsToGo.old
Launch the BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Open the Application Loader and sync your phone
You should no longer be prompted to downgrade Documents To Go during the desktop sync.
