Default Blackberry won't connect to my Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,
My first day of using BB Bold and I must say overall it's been a great experience,EXCEPT one problem. My BB cannot connect to my laptop.
When I open my Desktop Mgr (vers 4.6),my BB cannot be detected.I upgraded to vers 4.7 and it's still the same.

When I plug it into my USB,usually there'll be a chiming sound but this time it doesn't.But obviously my BB is detecting my computer because it's charging.

I have tried restarting my computer and my BB by taking out the battery and it's still not working.

I have tried to uninstall the vers 4.6 and all its registries and install 4.7 and that also doesn't work.

I'm getting really frustrated here because it's really really important that I'm able to connect my BB to my laptop!

Is the problem with my BB or is it with my laptop?
Can anyone help me out on this?

I'm running a WinXP Professional Service Pack 3.
My BB OS is 4.6.0.185.

Please help if you can!Thank you so much!

Ok, open the desktop manager, at the bottom where it says connected device: none; click none and it will come up with a box.
it may be that it thinks you want to use bluetooth and not usb. check the usb box.

It says "USB" at "Connection Type" though...
So I think it assumes that I'm trying to connect using USB...yes?

Yes I have, and all of them won't let me connect :(
USB ports work fine with other devices too,so I don't think it's the USB ports.
My BB is charged when I plug it in,so I don't think it's my USB cable either...

*sigh*

Are you connecting via a USB Hub or directly to the PC?

yeah that wasnt it... i did find the problem however... my device was "disabled" according to the Device Manager of my COMPUTER... I right clicked on "Blackberry Smartphone" then clicked on Properties and saw that it was disabled... it told me to click Next to enable it... and now it works... maybe this helps somebody... if not this article was really helpful...
