Question Cannot register email accounts after switching sim

Please Login to Remove!

Hi - my first post here and it's because I have a problem I have had a little look around during the time I have available to me in order to see if this is me reproducing a query that has already been asked here, but I didn't see it anywhere. Please feel free to move this post if it is in the wrong section.

I am in the UK, and my carrier company is Vodafone.

Recently we went on holiday to an area that has terrible signal for Vodafone (Cornwall and Devon) so I switched the Vodafone sim in my BlackBerry for my 'Pay as you Go' Orange sim and enabled it for BlackBerry use. I had to point it toward my email accounts afresh after the switch as it didn't seem to be able to use them. But it retrieved email fine after I did this.

During the time there I was using the BlackBerry without many problems (apart from the fact that the area is terrible for signal strength generally anyway). The handset didn't even seem to need unlocking, but worked from the outset on the Orange sim.

On the way home (back to Essex) I switched the Orange sim out and the Vodafone one back in. That's when the problem started really.

The BlackBerry seems to need pointing toward the email account again in order to retrieve email. When I go into the email options menu it asks me which mail accounts I would like to validate and then activate. I put in my passwords and hit 'validate', but then after loading for a moment it returns an error message telling me 'Sorry, unable to continue your session. Please log in again'. It doesn't matter how often I go through this, or if I change the passwords on my email accounts, it will not accept the validations.

Also, I cannot seem to add, edit or delete any accounts as I am no longer given those options.

Anything you can tell me to shed light on this issue would be very much appreciated. If you need any more information from me please do let me know.

My thanks to you in advance

Emma

Unless the phone is unlocked to any carrier it wont work. If it is unlocked the next thing you need to do is log into the BIS server for the original carrier and delete the blackberry pin. Then log in to the new carrier and register the pin. All data will then be directed to the new service. You will still be required to set up email on the new carrier and remove it from the old carriers BIS site..
