How to enter backdoor commands on the BlackBerry Storm smartphone

To enter a backdoor command on a BlackBerry Storm smartphone, complete the following steps:
  1. Display the menu and select Show Keyboard.
  2. Hold the number key to lock the number keyboard. The 123 icon appears on the screen, and a small lock appears on the number key.
  3. Press the desired keys to run a backdoor command.
The following table indicates the appropriate keys to press to run a backdoor command:

For example, to enter ALT+NMLL, type:
SureType® input method layout: 88 9 , ,
QWERTY layout: ! , " "
Note: If using a full keyboard (reduced QWERTY) in portrait view, please use the landscape view commands.

It is apparently the term RIM uses for keyboard shortcuts. They offer very little information on how to use them in detail but I did find a lot of people on the internet trying to offer various opinions on what and why. Keep in mind RIM calls tips on using a blackberry shortcuts. So calling key stroke shortcuts is backdoor stuff. Confused yet? I think we all are.
