Default Why is the 9930 cheaper than the 9900?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello fellow blackberryans,

Before I buy my new Blackberry I need to be sure of one thing, do I buy the 9900 or the 9930? I'm leaning towards the 9930 because of the +$100 price difference to my advantage. I do have a GSM only network through my carrier which works over EDGE. I am not quite sure if this can cause problems if I were to use a 9930 on my GSM-only network.

As far as I know, the only spec difference to the 9900 seems to be the 'world' phone capability of the 9930, which actually adds the CDMA feature to the phone, then how come you pay less for more?

Can someone please explain the price difference between the 9900 and the 9930?
Through Amazon you can buy the unlocked 9930 for USD510,- while the unlocked 9900 is USD649,-.

Thanks in advance!

Supply and demand. There are more GSM customers than CDMA customers.

Be careful that the 9930 may not have full speed (3G/4G) capabilities on your home network.

Thanks for the answers you guys.

Thanks for your concern about the possible slower 3G/4G speed...... but I believe that is the least of my worries

Here in my country, the Republic of Suriname, 3G is not even available yet and I suppose it will take them a while before it is tested and fully applied.
Of course when they eventually do provide it, I would like to use it to it's full extent, but I suppose it isn't all that bad.... or is it....?

Greetings from Sunny Suriname
