Unhappy Move Mailbox on Exchange 2007 Stops Handheld Syncing Back Into Mailbox

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Admins

I have a BES 4.1.6.20 and 2 Exchange 2007 SP1 RU 8 located in different sites with a 10mb fibre link between them. The Exchange servers have MBX, HT and CAS role installed.

Essentially the issue is that when I move my mailbox from one site to another using the move-mailbox cmdlet, change made in my mailbox via Outlook stop being synced back to the handheld (8310, 4.5.0.55). Communication the other way round is fine, changes made on my handheld are synced into the mailbox.

To update my BES after the move is complete I sync AD between the two sites, run handheldupdate -u and then restart all BES services. The BES then recognises that my mailbox has moved.

It is worth mentioning that when I reactivate my Blackberry on either mailbox server the syncing works perfectly. Hence I believe that this cannot be a CDO Mapi32 type problem (all file versions are the same across all servers). The trouble only occurs when I perform the move-mailbox cmdlet.

I have set myself up on a seperate mailbox agent so I get a seperate log file. I keep getting the following erors when trying to deleted items:

[40000] (07/30 11:29:40.851):{0x1590} [BIPP] Received datagram, Tag=106308
[40700] (07/30 11:29:40.851):{0x53C} {first.last@domain.com} Receiving packet from device, size=144, TransactionId=345979323, Tag=106308, content type=CMIME, cmd=0x3

[40518] (07/30 11:29:40.851):{0x53C} {first.last@domain.com} Receiving DELETE_MESSAGE request from device, Tag=106308, TransactionId=345979323, RefId=-582954526, SrcFolderId=0

[40183] (07/30 11:29:40.851):{0x53C} {first.last@domain.com} MAPIMailbox::RefIDtoEntryID - Could not find RefId=-582954526

I am at a loss.. What else should I be investgating admins? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please Help...

Mojo.

Don't restart the BES after moving your mailbox to another server ... it isn't needed. The handheldcleanup -u is all that is required.

Do you have the same response to messages delivered to your mailbox AFTER the move? ... or is it only messages that were in your mailbox prior to the move?

I thought you restarted the services to as to reestablish the MAPI connection and force the update of the mailbox location?

I have just tried the file a message that was in the mailbox and on the handheld prior to the move. The response was;

[40000] (07/30 13:25:45.938):{0x1590} [BIPP] Received datagram, Tag=106407

handheldcleanup -u does that for you.

What happens if you move the message through OWA?

When i delete a message through OWA the MGMT log does not show any update at all. As if it is not picking up the change.

You said you were moving the message...

If you're deleting the message through OWA is it from a folder configured for redirection? did you hard delete it?

It is from the inbox, which is redirected....

And any action that is performed in Outlook is not replicated to the handheld, be it move, delete, read etc....

Do other users have this problem? Does your user account belong to any special groups?

My account doesn't belong to anything special....

But when I have tested with another user the move-mailbox operations doesn't stop the syncing of his handheld. I just move - handheldupdate -u, reload user and restart services.

I know you said don't restart the services but I find it pushes through the change alot quicker if you do...

I'm going to try with another couple of users and make sure it wasn't a fluke.

doing a reload user is effectively doing a restart of the services for just that user ... look in the MAGT log when you do that.

what if you try moving your mailbox again? make sure all your clients are closed.
